Planescape Torment has shown me that having a wacky cast of characters to use is alot more fun than your basic run of the mill people.

Now I'm a big fan of CC, but Magus is the best character in anything, ever. Period.Quote:

It's funny than how every FF game has different gameplay elements but still calls itself a sequel... just think of Trigger and Cross in the same way.
But the problem was that CC was promised to be a full fledged sequel and hence I was bitterly dissapointed because I thought CT and Mario 3 to be the greatest games of all time.
I kinda have to agree with you here...the characters and story only connect in a very convoluted and indirect way, and I don't see what music has to do with anything. It's definitely a sequel, but it'd be just as good a game if it had nothing to do with Trigger.Quote:

Logic has failed on him. I recommend beatings.Quote:

p.s. Icepick is right. Commie.
A group of characters fight to save the world from a monster with Uematsu composed music playing in the background. Even the battle / level up systems are in some ways similar. Materia / Junction / Sphere Grids are just fancy ways to build up characters by placing a thunder3-ball here and then putting that wateraga magic there. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. With the exception of Tactics, all the FF's are pretty similar to each other as a game. Also, the reason behind it's growing success is solely based on the name "Final Fantasy," and not because they've kept with tradition of coming up with something different. They're not innovating the RPG genre. Instead, they're selling out. Yeah I said it. :oQuote:

Chrono Cross is the best rpg of the 32-bit era easily. The battle system was amazing and after looking at the characters special attacks once, I stuck with 6 characters anyways. I just found finding how to get the charcaters fun. I didn't really care about actually using them.I just wanted to find all of them. How varied the world was and the sense of exploration made it awsome. I swear this game was more of an adventure than any movie or adventure game I played or watch. The game was just fun and I can't really say that about most RPG's.
I have. Dragon Quarter, as well, certainly tries to improve on how an RPG should play instead of using the same old, tired ideas. At the same time, however, it doesn't get a few of those things right, and gets ruined in the process. (The requirement for playing through the game multiple times, for example.)Quote:
