Somehow I've got this thing which adds bookmarks and slows the hell out of my system, I've run AdAware tried getting rid of the directories and stuff but it keeps coming back. Can anyone recommend a good spyware killer, preferably one that can detect and kill running processes on the spot?
Try Spybot Search & Destroy, from www.download.com -- once you get that, update it's definition files and run a scan. It'll find all sorts of crap, like faulty reg keys, cookies, tracking files, software, etc etc etc. I don't know if it'll actually kill any processes that may be manipulating your system on the spot, but I know it should at least find and quarantine the files doing it.
I've been using lavasoft's AdAware. Seems to work fine, just google for it.
I second spy bot.
I use both ad-aware and spybot, sometimes one doesn't pick up what the other does. Out of the two... I recommend spybot.
Guess I'll have to get it, then.
