Do you know how difficult it is to legally immigrate, especially if you're poor? If you're an uneducated person, the wait for a green card is minimum 15 years. By then, many of these people might be dead.

Canada also has the benefit of not being located next to a third-world country. Any prospective illegal immigrants either have to be able to afford a plane ticket/cargo container space, or make their way up through the US somehow. Swimming across the Rio Grande is a lot easier for someone with no money.

But yes, it's a good example of how society can run fine with fewer illegals.

There's a pretty low supply of Teachers too.

but its far higher than good basketball players, and the demand for teachers is far lower than good basketball players. Seriously with professional athletes the demand is off the scale high and supply is off the scale low.

Do I? My father was born in a mud shack in Scotland, left school at 13 and came to the US in 1976 with 300 dollars on him. I had a green card from 1977 until I became a citizen in 1993.

England is an island, does not live next to a 3rd world country and has the worst situation for illegal immigrants in Europe.

Even if Canada and the US were reversed location wise, they would go through Canada to get to the US. People go where the money is. If we were a welfare state on the scale of England, you can bet we'd have even more illegal immigrants.

Like MVS said, they shouldn't have had families if they can't support them. They're stupid. So, in addition to being deadbeats that can't support their families, they have to come here and be a burden on our society as well. Or do you think it's fair that the taxpayers of Suffolk County have to shell out millions of dollars to build a fancy shelter for non-citizens?

I'm all for legal immigration and giving people a chance for a better life. What I'm against is assholes that sneak into this country and hurt our economy by working jobs, not paying taxes and sending the money to another country. Apparently you're in favor of that. What a good citizen you are. Aside from being very irrational and pissed for whatever reason you're not making a good argument at all.

And this shit about living beyond their means ? Thats fucking bullshit. Mexico's government is so fucked up. The president before Fox only worked for himself and gave nothing back to his country. It was not until Fox came into the picture that the situation started to get better.

And calling people deadbeats when you don't even know their situation is just stupid. Since my parents came into the untied states they have been paying taxes. Never once have they ever stopped working. Again, as far as deadbeats go. In my experience I've never seen a mexican, an asian, or any other person from another nationality panhandling for money but white males and females.

So you tell me who the deadbeat is.

Because they have no other choice at the time.

the problem is that you guys have never been in their (my) situation and can't see byeond what you don't know.

But, in the grand scale, it doesnt help anybody.

01. It certainly doesnt help them, theyre getting paid shit and getting treated like shit.
02. They are illegal, which means that Americans don't want them here, cops don't wanna help them, and the government doesnt want any part of them. So they get abused at the workplace and have no recourse. It's like 1870 working at the steel refinery.
03. It doesnt help the economy, because they arent making much for one thing and theyre certainly not doing much with their money.
04. It doesnt help the government because tax revenue is minimal if it exists at all, and if they need social support that is a further burden to the government. And if they have kids here they automatically go to the school system, which costs the government further.

It's a lose-lose situation for all involved. Sure they pick up some shit jobs that Americans are not willing to do right now but at what cost?

America's not paved with gold, coming here and accepting some crap employment where you pick tomatoes for 30 cents a bushel is not helping anyone. Especially if you have no hope of climbing the social ladder (which is the case for pretty much all illegals).

There's certainly no way of explaining these concepts to an illegal immigrant, but that is why something needs to be done quick. Something should have been done 20 years ago but decades of politicians pandering to the Hispanic vote and not doing shit about it has led to the huge, huge, HUGE problem we have today.
