i agree. my theatre has a penchant to crank "blockbusters" sound up all the way. and in this movie that is not a good thing. i seriously felt like i was going to puke several times because of it.

Wow, now I want to wait for a rental. I expected higher remarks from you guys.
Those of you who hated Underworld - is Van Helsing better?
id say the pacing is on par with underworld. i myself didnt hate that movie, but thought it was too long and boring in some parts. but i would glady watch it again over van helsing. the movie just cant decide if iy wants to be serious or not. it tries so many things but doesnt really deliver on any of it.
Yikes, Underworld I thought was mediocre, worth a matinee w/o movie snacks!
Helsing sounds like a time waster for sure, and let me guess, the trailer showed ALL the good parts and none of the other hour-plus of crap...
I don't understand why the carriage caught on fire. It was just... on fire all of a sudden.
yes....if you even consider the parts they showed "good".Quote:

From what I hear, the only way you will enjoy Van Helsing is to go in expecting an over the top, cheesy, brain-dead action-adventure movie. If you're expecting Indiana Jones 4 you're going to be dissapointed. The mind-set you take into a movie has a lot to do with if you get any enjoyment from it. I really WANT to like Van Helsing, but we'll see. I'll probably see it Sunday or Monday night.
Hearing Veggie say that VH is loads better than LXG makes me feel better. LXG was the celluloid equivalent of monkey urine. Especially dissapointing since the comic kicked so much ass.
oh i went in thinking it would be drevel. and thats what i got. i actually liked LXG more than this. you have to go into this with the mindset that you can enjoy ANYTHING to even get a sliver of satisfaction from it.
I have to say that most of you people are crazy! First of all this movie absolutely shits all over that garbage Underworld and The Hulk. Anyone who says differently is nuts. Secondly, the first Indiana Jones was the only serious one, the rest tried to mix adventure with comedy, a trend that The Mummy franchise tried to follow. This movie is along those lines, but tries to be more serious. I personally loved this movie. Some of the acting was weak, but overall it was really well done. If you like movies like The Mummy, you will love it.
The werewolf shattered one of the lanterns... yet werewolves weren't supposed to be able to catch Transalvanian horses.Quote:
