What are the ten games you haved played the most? These are the ones I'm guessing I have played the most. They aren't in any order.

Provide some reasons why they are your most played games aside from liking the games a hell of a lot. I'm guessing most people's 10 most played games list is different than their 10 favorite games list.

For me, half the games coincide with being a teenager. I played a lot of multiplayer Golden Axe, NHL Hockey and SF2 back then and they were often drinking games.

There are virtually no recent games listed for me because I tend to spread my gaming time among a much larger group of games than before and my friends from back then have mostly abandoned gaming. It's not because I like modern gaming any less.

Also, every game I listed is a home game. I used to spend a lot of time in the arcades but with quarters always in short supply, home games still got played way more.

My list is also very action-oriented because I don't tend to play through RPGs and Adventure games that many times over despite being a big fan of the genres.

Let's see i'd have to start off with

1) Super Mario Bros.

at the time it was revolutionary, it was like the game that kept on giving. Every world I finished brought on a new one. The warps, the boss, the 99 lives trick, it really was a dream come true. In the school yard it was the talk of the town.

2) Mega Man 2

I was young and didn't have much money so I borrowed this game from a friend and played the hell out of it, it was fun as hell, great music and was rewarding once mastered. Coupled with the NES Advantage it was a more fun to take advantage of the auto fire.

3) Battle of Olympus

Another game I borrowed and played the hell out of cause I had no money. I loved the greek setting, and the bosses and items you aquired. It was a fun game.

4) MK 1 & 2

Well these are games I played endlessly alone and even more with friends. When they came over I wanted to obliterate them so I practised mercilessly and it payed off... those were great times.

5)Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past

to this day this is still the best adventure game I have ever played. My first play through I thought I was almost done when I got the master sword and was fighting the wizard than lo and behold it was just the beginning... I was in heaven. The puzzles, items, bosses, and world were created to perfection. I played this more then any other game in my life. It is the reason I love Zelda and games so much to this day.

6) Tekken 2

Another fighting game my friends and I played the shit out of. At the time the endings were amazing. We had to get each one, then after that we had to beat each other up. Nothing like competition to make a game last longer.

7) Goldeneye

The single player experience was so fine tuned you could play it on a harder difficulty and new challenges would open up making the level even more fun. Than there were the challenges. And of course the multiplayer. This game has used so many of my life hours its almost embarrassing although Halo is slowly catching up.

8) Zelda: Ocarina of Time & Majora's Mask

Zelda in 3D, it was basically a LttP in 3D and that was ok with me. The fighting engine was very functional and the bosses and dungeons were again ingenious. A true masterpiece. Then MM, a new story and direction for the series. Forget that there aren't as many dungeons, theres as much fun to be had in here. Try and get all the mask and help all the people of this odd little world and you got a game that lasts just as long as the others. I for one loved it and wouldn't change a thing.

9) Phantasy Star Online

My friends and I are all grown up, with houses and jobs... getting together is no longer an easy thing to do with all of our grown up responsibilities and here comes this game and brings us all back together. It wasn't the most challenging or revelotunary game but it brought us back together and that's what we wanted most. Of course Diablo did it before but we played this one more.

10) Halo

The AI was awesome, the story captivating, the controls were perfect for a console and the grenades, shields, and limit of two weapons brought new life to a genre my friends and I have been playing for years. Even better is system link. Every once and a while we get together with 4 huge tvs, 4 xboxs and 4 games and play endlessly into the wee hours of the night killing each other in every possible way. This game easily made my xbox purchase worth while.

That's even more different. ;) But seriously, list topics will always resurface because of freaks like me that love reading them. It's just the cycle of message board life. I was just interested in the reasons people have certain games as their most played: stage in life, monetary reasons, etc.

• Marvel vs. Capcom 2 By far, the most played.
• Castlevania: Symphony of the Night I just played it over and over, trying to level up after I had already beaten the game.
• Street Fighter Alpha 3 Spent hours trying to perfect Guy combos.
• Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker I played for eight hours a day, for over a month straight (testing).
• Twisted Metal III The most hated--and still the best--Twisted Metal game.
• Crash Team Racing Easily the best cart racer ever.
• Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Arcade Actually played the NES version most--it was the only NES game I had other than Mario for a really long time.
• Guilty Gear Friends and I played the original Guilty Gear tons, which I blame for me hating the new games.
• Halo Friends and I played every weekend for about two years straight. Yeah.

Nothing else comes close to how much I played these.

The Sonics on Genny, Mario All-Stars, Mario World and Yoshi's Island I played a ton of when I was younger. They were the first games I ever bought new and I got my money's worth. Before them I had mostly just played odd and end used games I got from the video store.

More recently: PSO I was totally addicted to. I played a ton of Animal Crossing, and got my mom, sister, and her boyfriend all very into it. Good times were had by all and likely will be had again. The number of hours I've played Halo must be incredibly high and that'll keep growing so long as people keep coming to Halo nights :).

Gyruss - The first time I played it, I was hooked forever. I've played it about once a week in arcades since its release, and I've never gotten tired of it.

Galaga - Same thing, but not as often as Gyruss.

Ms. Pac-Man - Same thing, vol. 3.

It wasn't until I got out of college that I got my own TV.

Tennis 2K2 - Since its DC release, friends & I have played four-player doubles every couple weeks. I've worn out two copies. The best party game ever.

Soul Calibur - See above, except I've worn out only one.

Burnout 2 - Probably the single-player console game I've spent the most time with. Still not bored...not close. I keep inventing new challenges for myself, and the game keeps delivering. I am a sick person who owns it for all three systems, but the XB's custom soundtrack makes it my favorite.

Intelligent Qube - The first PSone game I owned. I've played it a couple times every week since its release.

Vagrant Story - I usually hate RPGs, but when I picked this up on a total whim I played nothing else until over 100 game-hours later. Dammit, where's my sequel, Square-nix?

Devil Dice - Many hours spent, and I'm still not that good at it, but it's so freakin fun I don't care. The US release of Bombastic was a true blessing for me.

I've tried, but I still fail to see how people get hooked like that. I played in the AC beta, and I played until the very end. I played a LOT, too. Had a really good time. But when it ended and I'd be forced to pay monthly to keep playing, I decided to bail. Maybe FFXI will hook me when I finally try it.

Probably not.

• Civilization series (pc) - each game is just a continuation from the last and I've easily put 3000+ hours into it over the past 12 years.
• X-COM UFO Defense & Terror From the Deep (pc) - they're so similar I have to lump them together.
• Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 (n64) - I've play this more in multiplayer mode than any other multiplayer game ever.
• Advance Wars (gba) - The second is a overall better game but I put way more time into the first
• Halo (xobx & pc) - This one come in a close second (or third?) in multiplayer time and I've played through the single player (or co-op) mode around 7 or 8 times.
• Tecmo Super Bowl (nes) - Third or maybe second in multiplayer time and I've went through the seasons god knows how many times. This game is one of the reason emulation is so great, every year someone released a updated roster patch.
• THSP series (psx, DC & PS2) - same as Civ, once the new one comes out I leave it behind for the next. They get better and better each time.
• Dragon Force (sat) - I know I've been through it at least twice with each general maybe more with a few of 'em
• Suikoden 2 (psx) - Working on my 6th time though, played it more than any other 1 RPG.
• Gradius 3 (snes, arcade & PS2) - Not a year goes by without me putting in a ton of time on the greatest shooter of all time.

INPO:

Guilty Gear xx (PS2)- I have been playing this for a year now, never got tired of it. I play it pretty often, less so recently, but i still manage to go to tourneys and such

PSO (GCN)- strongest ranger until he got corrupted.

EQ(PC) - damn the crack

ff3(SNES) - i have went through this game so many times, SOO many times. Most def my favorite rpg ever.

Snowboard kids (N64) - It was mario kart, but differernt. Alot of my friends were into extreme sports, and liked the tricks and such.

Super Smash Brothers (N64)- Great party game, we always had 4 people around "smashing it up". After playing seroius fighting games, it loses alot of merit, but hey, i was younger.

Super Smash Brothers Melee (GCN) - See above, its something everyone could play, i guess thats why it was fun.

Warcraft 3 (PC)- played it for like 6 months straight when it came out, i prefer it to SC in every way.

Sid Meier's Civilization II (PC) - Btw the single-player (easily over 1k hrs logged) and multi-player, this is my most-played game of all time. Endlessly entertaining and the first (and best) just-one-more-turn game I played, it's been installed on various comps since Summer '96 and I STILL play it.

Street Fighter II: Special Championship Edition (Genesis) - My brother's first game for his first console, we played the crap outta this, the best version of SFII on any home system.

Soul Calibur (DC) - The most polished fighter ever combined w/a grueling routine to master a character meant I logged quite a bit w/this one. And I'm not even counting multi-player.

Diablo II and Lord of Destruction (PC) - Clickclickclickclickclick *DING!* Clickclickclickclickclick *DING!* Clickclickclickclick...

Halo (Xbox) - "Tombstones for everyone."

NBA Street (PS2) - Easily the best action sports title ever. Trick points, Groundshakers, Serving up Dinner, trash talking and draining the turn-around, fade away 2 in OT for the win? Fa-shizzle!

FIFA '98 (PSX) - This game so dominated my college sophmore summer (during France '98 no less) I was known as "BATISTUTA!"

NBA Jam (Genesis) - The precursor to Street, I spent every afternoon for a good three months in HS coming home from school and playing till swim practice.

Team Fortress Classic (PC) - "The enemy has your flag!"

Counterstrike (PC) - From Beta 4.1 thru 5.2 I logged an avg of 5 hrs a day. Pretty much all of Fall '99 thru Spring 2000.

This is in no order whatsoever.

FFVII - I have beaten this game (100% each time) more times than I can remember. I have had a game of it going since 1998.

Vanguard Bandits - Ditto Something about this game just keeps me coming back.

CVS2 -Out of all the fighters I have ever played, I have played this one the most. I played the Xbox version every day for at least six hours with my roommates for the course of three months. When TNL was playing it on live I was on for at least four hours a night. would estimate I still put about ten hours a week into it. I love thid game.

Starcraft - This game has fucking owned my free time for the better part of five years. It still hasn't gotten old.

Super Mario Bros. I have pretty much memorized this game front to back. Still fun after many, many years.

Mortal Kombat II - The pool hall across the street from my parents house used to have this game. I was there, every day after school until dinner time. When I didn't have money, I was still there, watching.

I can't really think of any others at the moment... maybe later.

PGR2.

Not that bad, I guess.

Super Smash Bros - This game was insanely fun with friends. Probably my favorite N64 game.

Halflife + mods - Oh my god I don't even want to know how much time I spent playing on this engine. The original single player remains my favorite FPS of all time. Add in the fact that The Specialist and Counterstrike were once like crack to me and you have a freaking awesome and time consuming game.

THPS 1 and 2 - Played the shit out of these two. I remember when Tony 2 came out... oh man that ruled.

IIDX - This game is too addictive. I've probably been playing Beatmania for 4 years now and it's still fun.

Nothing else immediatly springs to mind so I'll leave it at that.

Well...now that I think of it.

1994-1995 was known as the years where I was killed by aliens then turned it around and raped them for fun.

That's probably still #1, followed by CS then PGR2.

Crazy Taxi (DC) - My best score is 320,000 some dollars but with the rickshaw I can go on forever. I once tried to see how long I could go with it and the dreamcast controller's right trigger broke.

Quake 3 Arena (PC) - Since its release till less than a year ago I played this everyday and somedays, when there was nothing to do, I would play only this the whole day. I got supremely good at it. I was in a few clans and even started my own which I had hoped a few people on TNL would join me but it never worked out that way. Still, for a 6 man clan we were fairly well known in the community towards the end of the InstaUnlagged scene.

Shadowbane (PC) - I only played this MMO for 6 months and now the game has gone to all kinds of hell. I can best compare the game to someone giving you half of a thousand dollar bill. Man it'd be nice if they could give you the other half. As ti was, it was something that could have been so cool but failed in the areas of stability and extra content that was in any way shape or form good. Still there were lots of player wars there to be fought, citys to be built and enemy cities to be raised. When my guild marched 300 players on The Lords of Death's Keep it was something I don't think anyone has ever seen in a game. However, I think the game itself was suprised. Many people, includeing myself, kept crashing. A friend I played with likened it to something you really really love that will only work on Windows 95. It's so good, but tainted with something purely wicked.

Morrowind (XB) - 600 hours at least. I disappeared from TNL whilst playing this and I think I disappeared from other social outlets in real life as well. If I wasn't playing it I was buried in my notes on alchemy in the game or reading the guide for yet even more quests to find.

Empire Earth (PC) - I once had a 26 hour long match. That was just one of the literally hundreds of matches I played against friends, and barring that, the computer. I'm now trying out more Empires: Dawn of the Modern Age and i'm a little disappointed with it. It looks nicer, it allows for alot more units to be under your command but there's a lack of sheer versitility that EE's custom civilizations allowed. Empires is alot easier than EE. Also, the game does weigh down my system some when so many units are on screen. EE didn't do that. Whenever me and my pals have a LAN party EE and Quake are the staples. Sometimes we mix in MOHAA or UT2K3 or BF1942 or Tron 2.0 but none of those compare. Except Halo.

Halo (XB/PC) - Countless hours. On Xbox I played through the SP and the Co-Op a whole heck of a lot and on PC the MP is what dominates my play time.

Star Ocean 2 (PSX) - Like someone else said, I had to do the secret dungeon and it was no cake walk. Long game made a lot longer with that last superflous dungeon.

Virtual On : OT (DC) - At my old apartment, me, station and our old roomates and some guests each had a character that we played exclusively. I used Fei-Yen (I know whatever... she's fast ok?). We kept a score board mounted in the living room. I had the most trouble with my pal Bill's 'Aphrmid-B.' Besides Q3 and Diablo 2 (at that time) it was all we played (ok, we did watch Bill play Ecco on DC.. stupid hard game). There was no other fighting game that we played more. MvC2 and CvS were there too, but I sucked at both so I never played much -_o

Diablo 2 (PC) - The SP was fun and the MP moreso. We LANed more often than not but that was because at that time we only had one dial up line. But still it was played more than most things.

Shining in the Darkness (Gen) - Without a doubt the longest I ever played a Genesis game or any Japanese RPG. The reason was half-way through I lost my save game and had to start over. Another reason would be that I wandered around in the game for what seemed like ages because I couldn't find the cave of truth. Bloodly "decptively hidden in the Northeast corner of the Labryinth," Cave of fucking Truth.

Was that the one with that Pandora's box that you opened and you never knew if it would attack eneimes or squash you with a giant foot?

In no order..

The King of Fighters 2001- I'm a huge SNK/KOF fan, and this is my fav installment in the series. A lot of people complained about the music and the art style, but I felt that it was all really refreshing. And the gameplay is just perfect. The fastest paced engine that the series has used, and honestly one of the deepest. 2k1 is a very underrated fighting game.

Crazy Taxi/Ct2/Ct3:High Roller- I can never get tired of these games. I swear I've put in hundreds of hours alone into the first game. I play one of these games every single day. No joke.

Halo- In my inner circle, Halo is a very big deal. Huge actually. We get together and have "Halo Nights" very often, and I've played through and beat the game on every difficulty. It's IMO the best FPS ever made. (G0zen!!!!)

NiGHTS: Into Dreams- Theres not much to say about this game, except that it's perfect in terms of design and execution. I love it. One of the reasons I tracked down a Saturn.

Tempest 2000- I can play this game for hours. I never tire of beating my high score. Played it on Jaguar, and even managed to snag it for Saturn.

Super Mario Bros. 3- The best platformer ever. In fact, you could say that with this game, the genre "jumped the shark". I'd be afraid to think how much time I've put into this since my childhood.

Samurai Shodown 2/4- Many many many memories playing the second one back in the day. It's still one of the best fighting games ever made, and ever since it's release, 4 has been a game that I always love to get lost in. I really wanted Hanzo to be in the versus games. Maybe some day I will see it happen.

Galaga- To me, the mother of the Shmups. I can't ever get enough of this game. I play it every single time I can find a machine. I used to have a lot of places nearby as a kid, but it's getting hard to find now. And I'm talking about the original mind you.

Dragon Warrior- A very long time ago, I recieved a copy of this game from Nintendo Power. I feel in love. It's one of the best RPGs ever made. Enix appeals to me a lot more than Square. Sorry FF Fanboys...

The Typing of the Dead- A very underrated party game. I love breaking this out with a friend, and it's something else I never get tired of trying to master. I really wish 2003 would come to the US, but I don't think it's going to happen.

suikoden 1- I played through this about 5 times. 3 times with all the characters, once killing all the generals, and another quickie. i plan to play it again soon since i haven't beaten it in a few years

waverace 64- it's something i'd play whenever i had a free hour and nothing to do. Never got tired of it. Plus the multiplayer had surprising depth if you were willing to make up your own games. 4 player Freeze tag on the ice level was awesome.

wipeout 3- same as waverace. i played it 3-4 times a week for a year.

Battleclash II- Metal Combat- yeah the superscope game. I beat it so many times trying to get better rankings.

super mario brothers- i've continued playing it ever since it came out, so i guess it should be on this list by default.

super mario 64- beat it with 120 stars multiple times, and then made up my own goals and continued playing it.

Shining in the Darkness? I don't think so, if it did I never got the Pandoras Box. It was that first person game with one gigantic dungeon. There were a few areas that I could never figure out and beat it without ever doing so. No crazy boxes though.

Arc the Lad 2 - got 1 on the import release day, loved it and picked up two the day it was released. I transferred my characters and had loads of fun.

By far the sickest thing I do is play Tekken.
Between TTT and T4. I have spent countless (I really mean that) hours and tons of money playing it in the arcades. (one game is nearly a buck a pop here and when playing against great players, on an off day it can go pretty fast.) I have to limit myself to how much I will let myself spend. I have also be doing this on and off for a long time. So many hours. :xx:

1. number one is and probably alway will be morrowind, bought it launch day,and am still playing it with the newer mods(new head packs, thin clothes mod, sea of destiny, witchgirl,jeremy's knights of morrowind,and soon beastly features and project aragonia later in the year), it comes in cycles, as i hadnt played it for 2 months, but now im back into it with a vengeance. I would probably be ashamed how many hours of my life have gone into this game. and so long as new adventure mods keep coming, i will still be playing.

2. pso- if you add up gc, dc version1 and 2 and x-box, the number may be over 700 hours on it, or as bonuskun would call it, one play sitting:D unfortunatly this game has been a lesson on diminishing returns, on dc version 1, i lived on this game every night from 10-4am, as the hucast frostwolf(hence my name), then the pkers and screen freezers fucked it up, and version 2 seemed like a dissapointment, as there was very little new content and regardless of what you got, i HATED the challenge modes with a burning passion. I really only learned how to play a force on the gc, but given nintendo and sega's collective bone-headedness the superior gc version never had a chance to shine because there was not a keyboard till much later, so most games were hotkeyed conversations only, and by the x-box version i was ready for burnout, too damn many times through mines for my sanity. plus for some reason the box version never quite felt right, i had a lot of fun with other tnl-ers, but then everyone dropped it, so now no more pso....for now.

3. animal crossing- still playing, another game that comes in cycles, i missed the holidays this year though, so now its just snowman building time.

4. ff 11. maybe it not the next most played game based on hours, but based on how much time i spent thinking about it when not playing, it was pretty damn close, eventually quit due to level treadmilling and burnout, but a fun game.

5.kotor, been through 2 times, going through a third, still havent been able to make myself play darkside.


6. pyros- i think this was called gardner on the genny, this was in a local arcade, and i played this game every single day, could beat the entire game losing only one life(the one area had really good treasure, but you couldnt get it and still make the time limit, so i sacrificed to but the better fireball spell.


7. legend of zelda(nes) beat both quests about 5 times or more, nothing at that time,or leading up to it,matched the feeling of pure satisfaction of getting the "magic sword" and knowing that you were about to lay waste to all around you.I used to have both quests memorized so that i could piece together enough hearts to powergame myself to having the magic sword by an earlier dungeon.


8. final fantasy(nes), played this game to death as well, used to try to get by with as many monks and white mages as I could.

9. Double dragon, before spike and hammer decided that their names were just a little too homoerotic, and became billy and jimmy lee(yuk) this game was my main arcade game, havent tried the gba version yet, but i lost 30 pounds because of this game, as i kept saving lunch money to play this game,and no, i never used the elbow punch cheat.

10. Gauntlet(all versions) what can you say for a game you have bought iterations of for 4 different consoles(dc, 64, gc, and nes) my fiends played the arcade versions 1 and 2 to death, this game was, pre-internet, the definition of multiplayer game. and version 2 especially worked for me as we no longer had to fight about who played which character, i could be blue wizard and not have to fight with my best friend, who also liked playing the wizard.

In no particular order:


PSO(DC): I had a Ranger around level 70, then my DC was stolen along with all the games. Picked up another DC and PSO and created a Fonewm and leveled it up to around Lv. 33. Later picked up Ver.2 and created a HUmar and leveled it up to around Lv. 33 as well.


Ms. Pac-Man: I've played so many versions of this game, that I have no idea how many hours I've put into it. So simple, yet such a well designed game. Versions played: C-64, Arcade, Atari 2600, PSX, DC and Atari Lynx.


Combat (Arcade, 2600) : I played the arcade version at the Roller Rink every Friday (If that does'nt tell my age. :D ), but it was'nt until my parents bought the family an Atari 2600, that I wore this game out. My family hated playing against me on this game, as I could hit any shot, from any angle on a whim. I'd play different levels of the game, to increase my personnal scores. It was the only game we had for the system, the first year.


Space Invaders(Arcade, 2600): Played the arcade version at the local bowling Alley for the first year or 2, then our family got it for the 2600. As with Combat above, it was the only game we got for the system that year. I was pretty much a master of this game. I could flip the score multiple times and could nearly flip the score playing the invisible game. I fired up the old 2600 last year and still was able to run through the game like it was yesterday.


Daytona (Arcade, Saturn, Dreamcast): I had put quite a few tokens in the old arcade unit, but when the Saturn version finally came home, I played it everyday for the first 3 months. I later purchased C.E. and amassed quite a few hours into it as well. Then the DC version came out and I played the home and online versions here and there.


Donkey Kong (Arcade, 2600, Colecovision, Intelevision and C-64): When this game arrived in arcades, I was hooked. Never had an arcade game looked so good and the simple yet addictive level design had not been as well done, since Pac-man/Ms. Pac-man. I liked the game so much in the arcade, that I spent a good portion of the $18 I had playing this game. By today's price standards, that would be like spending near $100 at the arcade. Later on, my neighbor lent me the Atari 2600 version that I played everyday after school for a month solid. My other neighbor had an Intellevision, which I'd play Donkey Kong on, every time I went over. Another friend had a Colecovision, with at the time, the closest version of Donkey Kong available in the home. I later discovered the C-64 and aquired a bootleg copy of 10 arcade hits. Donkey Kong was one of them and to my surprise, it was the best home version ever.


Street Fighter II (Arcade, SNES, Saturn): Between the original and Turbo/Hyper Fighting, this has to be the one fighting game, that has never grown dull. It is the perfect example of 2-D fighter games.


Missile Command (Arcade, Amiga, C-64, 2600, compilations): Atari sure knew how to make arcade games that had an addicting hook and this title was one of them. I played the arcade game every Friday, until my parents finally got it for the Atari 2600. Since we had so few titles for the 2600, I played this game like a mad-man for a good year solid. I actually have it in my current play list, through the Atari Anniversary collection on the DC.


Asteroids (Arcade, Atari 2600, compilations): Such a simple design, but it just had that gaming hitch (Atari's greatest days in the arcade) that so many Atari arcade titles had in that day. I played the arcade game where ever it was available. The game was so popular, that you'd find it at the local grocery store. My parents picked it up for the 2600, the same year as Missile Command. It was sort of a letdown on the 2600, but that did'nt stop me from enjoying what it had to offer.


Phantasy Star II : It was the first game I had on my Genesis, along with Altered Beast and Super THunder Blade. I played through the game within a month of owning the system and later played through the game a couple of years later. When I bought a Nomad, I played about a 3rd of the way through the game again. I really loved the music soundtrack to this game and it set the mood perfectly.


Super Mario: Who has'nt owned a Nintendo Entertainment System and not played this game to death. It was the very reason I bought the console.


Honorable mention to: PSI-5 Trading Post(C-64), Phantasy (C-64), Galaga, Summer Games (C-64), Sega Rally 95 (Saturn), Galactic Attack and Last Gladiators(Saturn), as any one of these titles could fit in the list as well.

You suck at it, I suck at it. The only person good at that game was a girl who just picked up the keyboard and made everything in the room look like a jackass. She beat that game in under 2 hours, and when it showed her score I could visibly SEE the shame in your eyes.

As far as what I've played the most over the years:

Thief: The Dark Project / The Metal Age - I spent months on these games, even though I beat the first one and most of the second one fairly quickly. That didn't even begin to stop me from going back and upping the difficulty and seeing how I could have pulled off this mission or that mission differently. I died, a lot, but EVERYTHING was worth it when you finally figured out the right system to get in, get every bit of treasure, and then get out without being seen or heard EVEN ONCE!

Tenchu: Stealth Assassins / Birth of the Stealth Assassins - Same as with Thief, I beat both of these fairly quickly (as Rikimaru anyway, I refused to play as Ayami in either one because I thought she was stupid), but went back and played through mission after mission until I achieved 'Grandmaster' on every board. Took weeks, but I loved every minute of it.

Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - I beat this game four times, every VR mission, every 'Snake Tail', and all because I was under the assumption that the skateboarding unlockable was somewhere on the X-Box version. I'm sure it isn't now, because the only thing I've yet to do is collect ALL of the many dogtags. Regardless of the fact I didn't get to gap the Big Shell, I just loved sitting down and playing this game. If you look on my X-Box's saved memory you'll see like ten rows under the MGS2:S column of weird ass pics that I'd taken during my many games.

Revenge of the 'Gator - I was real young when my parents divorced, and instead of me living with one or the other they got joint custody. So, I had to take a lot of trips down to Florida to spend time with my Mom. These were 12 hour trips, easy. So what did I do to pass the time? I played the hell out of THIS game on my gameboy. It was simple, fun, and completely pointless. I would challenge myself to get a certain score and the hours would fly by as I tried to reach it.

NHL 94 -Freshman year of college this was the game. Many 11 pm to 4 or 5 am tourneys

Super Mario 3 -It was so fresh, it was irresistable...and timeless.

Metal Gear -There was nothing like it at the time, this was my hook before the survival horror genre.

Soul Calibur -The quest style mode is the greatest thing to happen to fighters for me, wish more would use it. Tekken 2 comes pretty close in play time for me.

Deus Ex -Playing through this my seventh time. So many ways to play this game, it's never the same.

Diablo II -The only explaination is the simplicity. Somethings I don't want to get caught up doing all that thinking.

Dark Age of Camelot -It's an MMORPG and IMO it's the best out there, nuff said.

Halo -IMO multiplayer Halo is as good as it's gets. Lot's of MP Halo, and lots of practicing to play MP Halo.

Resident Evil -Obvious my first taste, of my favorite genre. I was so intrigued with is it's originally and I feel in love with the voice acting ;) .

Baseball Stars -Great game play. The first GM mode ever, and when you are 12 to ability to put your friends and enemies into the game, is pretty darn cool.

My 10 most played games ever.

1 - Contra (NES) - Ha, good memories. Everytime I go home, my friends and I beat this game. It's like a tradition for us.

2 - Vampire Savior (SAT) - Played the hell out of this too. Great gameplay, hidden animations, overall excellent game.

3 - Street Fighter 2: Turbo (SNES/PS) - No explanation necessary. This is another one of our traditional play games. Getting the PS version gives us the original soundtracks and sprites (for the perfect arcade feeling).

4 - King of Fighters 98 - (Neo Geo) - One of the best (if not THE best) of the KOF series.

5 - King of Fighters 94 - (Arcade/Neo Geo) - I remember all the quarters my friends and I used to drop on this puppy back in the day. The original that started it all.

6 - Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike - (Arcade/DC) - One of the best fighters ever. Such a rewarding experience. The animation STILL amazes me to this day.

7 - King of Fighter 95 - (SAT) - This is my 1st IMPORT (that broke the dam between myself and the beginning of an obsession, importing). I really loved reaping the rewards of that SNK/Sony/Sega deal back in 96. Talk about playing the hell out of something? I still play it to this day, as I don't most of the titles on this list.

8 - Mega Man 2 - (NES) - I put it in to play a level of 2, and I end up going through the whole game. One of the most reowned games of all time. I've beaten this so many times, I've lost count.

9 - Street Fighter Alpha 3 - (ARC/PS/SAT) - Still playing this nearly every other day, as I have been for the past 5/6 years.

10 - Tekken 3 - (ARC/PS) - This is the game...this is THE game. So many memories connected to this game.

Thunder Force IV (Genesis)- The pinnacle of TecnoSoft's legend.

Double Dragon (Arcade)- All about kicking the living shit out of anything that moves, and taking whatever doesn't to use as a weapon. DD is so good that the wake of similar games came as no surprise. My personal best score on it is around 145,000 (1CC)- using mainly the K,K combo that gets 700 points.

Gauntlet (Arcade)- When Putt-Putt had their Super Saturday, the attendant would come around and feed the machine with a boatload of tokens.

Space Megaforce (SNES)- Since no official sequel to Blazing Lazers/Gunhed ever came to be, this did a great job of filling the need for a successor.

Elevator Action II (Saturn)- An all-around kickass game with several ways to off your enemies (knock 'em down an elevator shaft, just plain KO them, set them afire with a rocket launcher, or lay bombs to set traps), decent challenge, and an excellent soundtrack by Yasuhisa Watanabe.

Space Harrier (Arcade, SMS, C64, PC, X68000, TG-16, Saturn, Dreamcast, GBA)- For the number of different formats I've played it on.

Most of the games I've spent the most time with are 4-player N64 games, because all my friends had one at the time, and now they're not big gamers anymore. We still break out the 64 for Conker's, Mario Kart or Perfect Dark from time to time though. I'm convinced that pretty much any game on the market is fun with 4-players.

Half-Life: I beat the relatively long single-player game, and I've spent countless hours on mods like Counter-strike and Action Half-Life. I haven't played in about a year but I'm planning on installing it on my new computer and playing some CS sometime.

Super Mario World: I would play this for hours with my best friend when I had sleepovers with him back in 1st and 2nd grade, then I bought the GBA version and played through it.

Conker's BFD: Playing through the story only took about eleven or twelve hours, but I've been playing the multiplayer with friends constantly since its release. First we liked Beach but that wore thin quickly, and since then we've been playing War - Colors. It never gets old.

Goldeneye/Perfect Dark: They're basically the same thing so I'll list them together. I played a lot of GE with friends during middle school, and then PD during freshman and sophmore year in high school. I still play PD every once in a while.

Mario Kart 64/Double Dash: Mario Kart is always a multiplayer classic. I haven't played a lot of Double Dash because it was just released but I'm sure I'll play it off and on until the next version is released.

Ocarina of Time: I played this game for months. It's probably the most time I've ever spent with a single-player game.

Grand Theft Auto III: The replay value is almost infinite, even though I haven't played it in about a year. It's fun to just pass the controller around with friends and see how much chaos you can cause.

I almost put Galactic Attack on my list as well. The game owned me, from the first moment I booted up the disk. I'm sure my neighbor was tired of hearing that pumpin soundtrack blasting from my speakers at 9 o'clock at night. Level 7's boss was a mutha.

I'm not very fond of my list, seeing how i had very generic taste as a kid...here goes...

in no particular order...

Super Metroid SNES - must have finished it a good 100 times in the first year i had it. I loved that game to death.

Super Smash Brothers GCN - played it every day since the release until a couple months ago, and just started again. I own with the Doc. 202 hours +

SSX 3 - GCN this game is too long! i killed my brand spanking new Wavebird over this alone. Thank god for rechargeables! 150 to 160 hours on this game.

Diablo II/LoD PC: lost sleep, time, a friend or two and some work over this. Luckily the only thing i didnt lose was my account. 5 to 10 hours of this every day of summer 2002. insane.

Unreal Tournament PC : ngstats logged me hanging dearly on the #650 position in DM for about a week, which aint too shabby...4 to 6 hours of this a day. I remember waking up one day it snowed real hard and we we're stuck inside. played from 5:45 in the morning to 2 am latter that night. Two toilet breaks and pizza we're the only TO's i'd allow.

Perfect Dark N64: stronger then 007 but not overall, i must have played 13 squillion matches with friends and double that alone. Character stats raised to Elite. Never got to Perfect though. for a month or 2, 6 hours a day once more. got old fast though

maybe not my most played but surely the most obessive and perfection based game ive ever had a chance to play. still in the rankings after not touching my score. gotta love it ;)

-Team Fortress Classic: got the game in 1999, and im still playing it at least 2-3 hours a week. This game will never get old for me.
-Contra III: timeless. i used to finish it over and over.
-Gunstar Heroes: same as contra.
-Mario 3: me and my firends lived off of this game when we were younger.
-Goldeneye 007: 4 player deathmatch, every day, for a year straight.
-Mario Tennis: took over Goldeneye's spot when it came out.
-Street Fighter2 Turbo (snes): when i wasnt playing friends, i was playing one player trying to finish the game without losing a round on 8 star difficulty (i never was able to)

I forgot about PowerStone 2. I played that game 4 nights a week, 2 hours a night for like all of my sophomore year at college. The girl living next door to me would hear me and my roomate scream out stuff at 2am like "One more round! I'm gonna bend you over that chair and pump your ass so hard it'll bleed!" I wonder if she understood our style of insults or not...

1. Super Bomberman--I must have played this off and on for about 4-5 years, on average a few times a week. Never played 3 people who could beat me consistently and 3-on-one was pretty much the only way I played.

10. Card Fighter's Clash

1. Tetris - Various. My cousin and I have been going back and forth trying to beat each other's high scores for ever. He now lives in NYC and I'm down in NC, but we will still call each other out of the blue sometimes to tell the other that their score has been beaten. Right now I'm on top, but I could get a call any minute...

2. Team Fortress Classic - PC. I had this game down to a science. I had my own clan and everything. It was less like a game and more like a job, and I was less like a mere player and more like a professional.

3. Couterstrike - PC. Probably second only to TFC in raw hours spent playing. Again, I did the entire clan thing. [BMF] for life!

4. Diablo 2/LoD - PC. I had at least 2 lvl 90+ characters. I spent so many hours with that barb...

5. Warcraft 3/TFT - PC. Again, Blizzard owned my very soul. I would play ladder matches until I got sick of them, then I would switch to custom games, then back to ladder matches. Repeat for over a year.

6. Street Fighter 2 - Various. I played this in the arcade and at home for a good part of my young life.

7. PSO - DC. Played this one late into the night many a time. Me and a big group of friends played this and that was what really made it great. I tried to rekindle the love on xbox, but the community wasn't there.

8. Twisted Metal 2 - PS1. I loved this game. The characters, the atmosphere, everything. Add in multiplayer and this one wasted many hours.

9. King of Fighters 98 - Arcade/DC. My favorite fighting game of all time. Alas, Takuma, I knew him all too well...

10. Streets of Rage 2 - Genesis. Me and some friends would play this game over and over late into the night. Good times.
