This is horrible. I'm a 26 year old male with chicken pox from head to toe. It's even inside my mouth and on my special place. Good thing I ordered ICO last Friday as it should be here soon and I'm going stir crazy! What's even worse is that I'm going to miss all week at work. How the fuck am I supposed to pay the bills? To the parents here, for the love of God expose your children to chicken pox while at a young age!
They have vaccines now.
That often doesn't work. The 3 year old I caught it from had the vaccine. In most cases you experience a mild breakout, but you can still catch it very easily.
Well a vaccine is just a mild form of the illness by definition. A few times I got flu-like symptons from taking the flu shot.
It just means its working.
Better to be vaccinated than catch it really late, like you have. Any sort of chance on passing it if worth the effort.
I was lucky enough to have it very young, so I don't even remember it. Probably the only good my brother has ever done for me, exposing me to it. It sounds terribly uncomfortable.
Ouch, all Varicella vaccines i've looked up in my MIMS are live altered strains of the virus. Usually vaccines are "dead" viruses or just their protein coat... no wonder it sucks.
I had it when I was little, I heard it's pretty bad for adults so hope you get over it pretty quick Bishop.
Yeah, I had it when I was little too, but I still have a huge scar from a giant one that was on my tricep.
All I can remember is calamine lotion baths and scratching like a bitch.
Aren't adults supposed to get Shingles if they don't get Chicken Pox when they're young?
No, shingles is an outbreak of the chicken pox virus when you're an adult (it never goes away, the virus is dormant in your nervous system now).
All of us who have had chicken pox in the past could get shingles in our life.
I had it young too, thankfully. Meanwhile, my 29-year-old friend at work just had it recently, and he was out for 3 fucking weeks.
No, you get Shigles if you're immunosuppressed after you've had chicken pox.Quote:

I've never had chicken pox. I've been exposed to it a number of times, but never got it. I'm hoping that I'm one of those freaks that just can't catch it or something, or that I got a really, really mild case of it that went un-noticed or something... because, you know, I'd rather not think about possibly catching it from this point on.

I guess I was fortunate to have it young, when I was about 6 or 7 in the first grade. Unfortunately I came with it the WEEK OF SPRING BREAK! so I didn't get to miss any school time for free. Bah! :curse:

Wow Bishop, I feel for you man. I haven't heard of anyone getting chicken pox in a very long time, and I can't imagine getting them now. I was lucky enough to have it when I was younger (maybe 8 or 9) so I don't remember it too well. But I do remember that it was very uncomfortable. Anyway man I hope you get better soon. :)

I hear you bishop, I got mine when I was 14. I have one huge piece of advice to give you: When they turn into scabs, DON'T put anymore lotion on them (if they don't itch then don't apply cream) I did that and they got soft and came off... now everywhere that I applied lotion to the scabs, there is a scar.

Well I'm back and still alive. I finally got about 14 hours of sleep last night after almost 3 days without it. I'm eating again too and getting stronger. The unbearable itching seems to be gone and is now just more or less annoying itching at times. Not much to look at, but at least my girlfriend still wants a kiss. I seriously wanted to hurt my parents for those few days, lucky they live several states away :) Of course my dad blamed my mom in good fun for not telling me I've never had or exposing me to it. Anyway, I picked up a few games this week that I sold a long time ago. Decided to give them another try and it's hard to ignore all the praise both titles get. I got ICO and GGX on the DC. I haven't sat down with ICO yet, but I'm enjoying GGX much more the 2nd time around. Thanks to the few of you here for the kind words.

Shingles suck, they make you feel like crap and it feels like the entire section is being stabbed w/ large needles.

It is usually much worse then average chicken pox, however adults with chicken pox can be much worse, cause you can actually die from that.
