I saw this movie last night, and man, was it messed up. It's based on a true story of Aileen Wuornos, a homeless prostitute serial killer who begins preying on the men who pick her up on the roadside so she can rob them after she shoots them. Aileen was played in an astonishing performance by Charlize Theron, who you might remember from flicks like The Italian Job. The way she transformed herself physically for the role was nothing short of disturbing- she gained 30 pounds, and appeared to have had some major make-up work done along with a nasty set of false teeth, because she looked disgusting. Normally, she's a piece of ass, yet in this movie she's unrecognizable. That, combined with an acting job that reminded me of the chameleon-like work Robert Di Nero used to do in his prime, where he'd engulf himself in a role and become the character he was playing, really impressed and suprised the shit out of me. But don't take my word for it- check the pics:

Damn.
The movie co-stars Christina Ricci, who also put on about 10 pounts for the role (but still looks damn cute, you have to wonder why she'd want to hook up with Aileen) as her girlfriend, and she really puts on a fine performance as well, but Theron is amazing. You really believe she's this crazed, strung out psycho who's not really gay, but gets involved with Ricci's lesbian character anyway because she just desperately needs someone, anyone, to love. Yeah, there's some decent lezbo action, but nothing too great, and Theron looks so horrible that it's not that appetizing anyway.
Anyway, great movie, go check it out. Charlize'll get an Oscar for sure.
