I gave up on the first one when I got to the endurance races. Two hours each and even then I might end up losing? No thanks. So I never went back to the series. Which sucks because I was way into it up till then.
But it is a sim game; never claimed to be anything else. There's a million arcade racers for people who don't like the tedious side of things.
And the first game most certainly did not look like crap when it was released.
The first game, especially the replays, looked fantastic when it was released, which was nearly five years ago, wow. Seems like just yesterday when I was looking forward to the game quite a bit, then bought it and was let down immensely by the monotony of it. The second game wasn't a huge visual increase over the first, but it didn't need to be, it wouldn't have hurt them to ship the COMPLETE game though. The third game was more like the first, with the reduced number of cars, and unbelievable graphics.
I never said it was my favorite fighter or even a good one. It was more or less a response to the person who said you had to be a casual gamer to enjoy the GT series which I found hard to believe considering most people can't keep the car on the road unless their on a oval track. It's hard to defend games anyway. Some people are going to hate games for the same reasons you love it. I play GT3 quite often and was only try to give some input on why I think some people enjoy the game so much.Quote:

They struggled for a while, trying to come up with reasons, and we all eventually agreed that it's not a very good game but it does appeal to people who really like consumer cars.
Hype and name recognition does not make a good game bad. I know it's not cool to enjoy mainstream titles, but I feel like in general most people are only going to scratch the surface of what GT3 has to offer and probably stick to the Arcade mode and 2 player battle. Personally I don't know anyone who has beat the beginner league and that's only around 10% of the game.Quote:
