Gone With The Wind
This is my girlfriend's favorite movie of all time. Her brother got her the DVD box set and we sat and watched it...well, not all at once, 'cause it's a 4 hour movie. We watched 2 hours one night and 2 a few nights later. Overall, I can see why this is considered a classic...the production values were amazing considering the year it was made (1939), and the story was pretty epic. The first half, that dealt with the Civil War, was great. The second half, which dealt more with the aftermath of the war and all sorts of gooey romantic stuff, was still good, but not nearly as absorbing. Overall, it was a very cool movie, one or two very cheesy scenes aside (the ends of the first half and the very end were retarded).
One thing that shocked me was this movie was rated "G". Meanwhile, there's a scene where a man gets graphically shot in the face, battlefields littered with bodies, implied rape, war, fistfights, children flying headfirst through wooden fences, fathers going insane and locking themselves in rooms with dead bodies for days, you name it. Tame by today's standards but it sure illustrates the difference in the rating system back then.
Oh, and Rhett Butler (played by Clark Gable) is the original pimp. The man pwn3d his bitches.

Yeah, that movie does indeed rock. Supposedly they had to pay big bucks for Rhett to be allowed to say his big line at the end ("frankly my dear, I don't give a damn"). I watch it when they give it on TBS but I'd like to get the DVD one day.

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this movie is. I saw it when i was a youngin, and it's really had an impact on me ever since. I pretty much consider it the greatest movie of all time, but I know some would beg to differ.

The DVD is pretty good. The picture quality is astonishing considering the fact that the movie is over 65 years old. Pretty sharp video, next to no print damage (didn't really notice any pops, scratches, or artifacts). The disc is a flipper with part one on one side and part 2 on the other. It seems there was an intermission when it was originally shown in theaters because when part 1 ends an "intermission" screen comes up instead of a "please flip the disc" message. As for extras, there's not too much, I think just the trailer and a trivia game. The box set came with a poster, reporductions of lobby cards and other promotional stuff like that.

I used to have the biggest crush on Vivien Leigh because of this movie. She's a hottie. Or was anyway.
-
Oh, she was indeed smoking hot in that movie. Too bad she's a moldering corpse now...
-
I thought the movie and story was pretty good...glad there's other men out there who think the same:P
-
Hey, as a man I didn't expect to like it...but I did.

I love it, my mom and I got the DVD for $15 eons ago and loved watching it on the PS2. I'm amazed at how clear the video is, and I wish more split-up DVDs would use "instermission" instead of "please flip disc" or whatever, it just adds a bit more class to it seemingly.

Clark Gable is awesome. I cant even figure how many women get wet while watching that movie because of him, even today. Especially today.
