The fact that the RIAA likes the ad is enough to make me hate it.
Read: "Legal downloading is great because my 3rd yacht won't be repo'd now".Quote:
"This ad shows how everything has changed," says Mitch Bainwol, RIAA chairman. "Legal downloading is great because fans are supporting the future of creative work in America."
Legal downloading is bullshit too. Most of the 99 cents youre paying on iTMS goes to the RIAA and its affiliates. The artists are getting no more money than they would if you bought the CD... except now you get a compressed lossy file and no liner notes or physical copy. Buying used is the way to go.
Agreed totally.Quote:

There's an independent used store down the street from me. That's where I buy 'em from.
The FYE near me (same company that owns Saturday Matinee and shit) started to carry them.
Look around, Im sure there's one not too far from you, as long as you live in a semiurban area or what not.
If they doubled the bitrate of the downloaded files (128kbps is trash, no matter what the file format is) and let you download full-color PDF liner notes, I would *maybe* think about trying out iTMS. But I doubt I would buy it, because of the economics I spelled out before.
Aight, cool. Thanks.Quote:

I'd do it... but that's because I'm a whore who is more then willing to sell my soul at any time.
Actually... as I understand it, the artist receives about 11 cents per track sold on iTMS.Quote:

So, while the RIAA is still taking its excessive cut, the artist actually gets more from iTMS than he does from an actual CD.
Note, I don't have a link other than this....
Just my $.02...

Well, might be worth giving a shot to have some new material for my new iPod :)
How dare they promote napster's imposter!
Limited libraries and DRM infected files? No thanks. Besides, that money goes streight to the RIAA anyways.
