might be a lil off topic, but what program can i use to merge the subs into the avi? i want to make this a mp4 to watch on the PSP with subs.

Eh, maybe, if you at least enjoy flashy things. There's really not much story there in the first place, it's mostly just a reunion of FFVII characters for the sake of having a reunion. What characterization they do have is drawn from references to FFVII which are for the most part not explained at all, so you'll probably be really lost every time a deus ex machina happens and you'll have no idea who entire portions of the cast are (then again, they don't really do anything with any of the new characters except Kadaj anyway). See it for the fight scenes.

Try vobsub. You'll have to decompress the movie, cram the subs in there with vobsub, and then recompress it with AVIsynth or something like it. It's actually a fucking hassle.

Yea, I tried the vobsub. Did that with the Kung Fu Mahjong. Had to use TMPGEnc to recompress the movie with the sub. It was a hassle. Thats why I was wondering if there was another easier way. I guess not. I deleted the programs cuz I thought I wouldnt need it again, but I got Initial D the movie as well as Advent Children, so I'll have to redownload the programs again. Thanks for the help though.

We're talking about encoding the subtitles into the file itself, so you can put it in portable media and have it play with the subtitles. Any monkey could put a sub file in the same directory as the movie and double click.
