Final Fantasy VII Advent Children

Seeing there wasn't a real official thread on this yet (not technically), I wanted to make this one and being the Final Fantasy Nut I am all but too happy to do so ;)

Not much more info has been released on this I'm afraid though, other then the fact a preview DVD will be included in with Final Fantasy XII when it's released in Japan and they have the official website with a few tidbits here and there, just enough to tide me over for now I suppose...

As you can guess the second one is now my new wallpaper :D... but I wonder if this "Cloudy Wolf" thing is a bigger part to the story then I original thought, it does have it's own wallpaper after all... I guess I can only hope... ^..^

Griever is Squall's from Final Fantasy VIII, Cloud never really had one in the original... this is something they added in Advent Children.

Yeah I have no idea why ether... but I'm not complaining :D

Just a rumor but I have heard that the Square-Enix booth at this years E3 is going to have a few surprises... who knows maybe one of them is Final Fantasy VII Advent Children, it's not a definate but it's a very real possibilty from what I've heard ;)... which is why I just have to go this year.

Well it's not really anime technically speaking, nor is it cinema really since it's directly related to a video game story and not a film based on a video game... so really it's ok here :)

I'm not a big FF fan, the only one I played through was the original, but I really want to see this. I didn't really think much of it when I first heard about it, but after seeing the trailer I'm pretty damn impressed.

Although "anime" is a Japanese neologism of the word "animation", they do not have the same usage. Anime is specifically the 2D, cel based variety. The Japanese call 3D animation "CG". They also use our word "animation" as a general descriptor.

Bullshit. CG is just more specific. It's all still anime. Same reason you more often here Gumby referred to as "Claymation", doesn't mean it's not a cartoon. And "Anime" is just short for "animation" so if you hear it called that, one's as good as the other.

If you can come into a FF thread and make blanket statements against FF, I can do the same against Galaxies. Atleast I can prove that the games are less than 90% movies.

There is not a single crab enemy in Galaxies. I believe, though I am not sure, that they are in EverQuest.

I understand that I left the door open. To be honest, I am somewhat fascinated by the concept of Advent Children. That is why I clicked the thread. Your discussion with Werewolf was too low hanging of fruit to not pick it, however.

Haha yea, I dunno...I just picked "crab" as the default "I have to kill how many of these things to go up a level?!" enemy.

I'm still grumpy that Advent Children is a movie and not a game...though, I'm sure I'll buy it anyways.

I really don't have anything against Star Wars Galaxies myself, having never played it... it's expectations we're extremely high so and playing too much like Everquest turned a lot of people off... though the dancing thing is really disturbing :sweat: I actually got into playing the Everquest Frontiers beta for awhile, I meet some good players on there and it was kind of fun... especially when I got the "Wolf Form" for my Druid :D I say if you like it cool, it may not be for everyone but you aren't everyone so who cares as long as you like it ;)

What's funny is that FF has just fallen out of favor with me, yet if you said, "you have to try non-Square game XYZ," I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I guess we all have our vices. :D

Instead of talking about FFVII Advent Children, all this thread's really doing is reminding me how much I need to cancel my SW Galaxies account before it gets renewed again. May as well just rename this to a Galaxies discussion thread, Werewolf :p

I still don't know what the hell Square's deal is with making most of the male characters in their FF games increasingly effeminate. Honestly, I can barely tell the difference between the male and female leads of the upcoming FFXII anymore...

To set the discussion BACK to the topic, the wolf symbol I believe is Fenrir. Fenrir in Advent Children is Cloud's bike and it holds 8 swords on it. Looks REALLY cool in the pic, the 8 swords just stick into the bike vertically four on each side, two rows and cloud in the middle.

Ummm, if you would read the thread, you would see that I was talking about the console FF series, not FFXI. Kidnemo is the one that brought SWG into it. No one but you said one word about FFXI.

When you said you had played "both" extensively, I assumed you meant SWG and FFXI (which, uhh, is on the PS2, and a console game), and that you weren't comparing the entire FF series to one Star Wars game. My bad.

Fenrir was also in Final Fantasy VI as one of the Espers, he would be my favorite one of course ^..^ :D

I remember reading somewhere that the images in the first trailer will not be in the actual movie, the first trailer images were just tests or something like that.
I'm mainly concerned with how Cloud gets those sunglasses and how long will he wear them. Maybe he'll visit the beach?

Don't act like you're fucking illiterate. A cartoon is a two dimensional drawing, animated or still. Gumby is photography of actual objects. It is animation, but not a cartoon.

Cool videos, seeing they have teaser trailers on the Final Fantasy X-2 International + Last Mission game the preview DVD for Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children might be packed with that game... it might be a Final Fantasy XII demo that is going to be packed in with the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children DVD release, that makes a bit more sense actually :)

Don't forget the stereotypical dialogue! I think Barret looks pretty cool, his look bothers me a lot less than the feminine Cloud/Sephiroth looks.

i dont think cloud looks all that bad and his pseudo gown/pants garment is pretty badass.....but sepheroth looks absolutely horrible. you can be bad all you want but with a face like that? people will just laugh at you.

I agree totally with you Rag..there were either Fag style(Vaan) or staight BITCHES(Tidus). The last character who acted like he had some level of manlyness was Zidane..due to the fact he was trying to bang Dagger...but he has a Tail...and that is a little fey.

But lets fave it...as fem style as the FF characters have gotten as of late...nothing they have done compares to the outright gayness of Dante from DMC...in his Diesel outfit...i shudder at that thought. :yuck:

Looks awesome. While the trailer quality wasnt all that hot, the movie footage was.

Some wicked fighting and action sequences, and animation quality is breathtaking.

The trailer is also on FFX-2 International. It looks good, but not something I would buy. A new game (and not a mobile phone one) is something I would buy.

I'm really happy about this, everything looks great, I'm also pleased that from the main trailers, they've kept the main musical theme from FF7, for years thats been one of my favorite musical pieces in any genre. It may not be the best music ever created, but it holds a ton of nostalgia and sentiment for me. I suppose I'm glad about Advent Children because it'll help my relive a bit of 1997 without actually having to sit down with FF7 the game itself, I love the game but I don't have the time thesedays. Those were good, fun, carefree times though. :) :(

I know I'm going to get blasted for this, but I don't feel like searching through old threads, does anyone know when this is coming out for the USA and on what format? Is it just going to be a DVD release like suspected?
