I guess hoping for freeware that can do it might be a stretch, but even a trial version will do. As long as it isn't "encode only half of the file" bullshit.

Why would you want to encode into Microsoft's proprietary bullshit format?
Just use high-quality MP3s, or encode into AAC with iTunes...
Oh, I would, but the Xbox isn't a fan.
I'd rather batch encode most of the music on my PC and send it to the Xbox than burn a bunch of DVDs encode it on the Box.
Doesn't Windows Media Player give you the option to rip a CD into WMA?
Ok, I see. The typical Microsoft "I just DARE you to try and use another format" tactic...Quote:

It's kind of a pain to have to make a disc image of an audio CD and mount it whenever I want to convert, but I'll live.
FastENC. It's somewhere on the web. It's free.Quote:

iTunes for Windows has a free MP3 encoder built into it (AAC is only the default setting,) as does MusicMatch Jokebox.
There's a free windows media encoder for wmv/wma files on their website... (or, at least there used to be, cause I had it at one point.)
WMA=Windows Media Audio
WMA=War Measures Act (Canada)
Sure they seem great at first if you're desperate but in the long run you question it.
