Your top 10 or 15 ARCADE Games of all time!

It's been years since I have put quarters into a Arcade machine on a regular basis that is, but I have su many fond memories. Here's my top 15 Arcade Games, I will choose these based on money spent, length of time spent playing and how much I enjoyed them.

In no specific order

1. Victory Road - Two player bliss, I was addicted to this! loved the sword red gerndade combo.

2. Double Dragon - One year at the State Fair my friend and I blew $20 in a half hour on this one, and we got better but when we found a machine at the local 7-!! we would do it again and again.

3. Final Fight - My Buddies and I loved this game, We spent like 30 dollars for all of us to finish it. Game mechanics were great and it was so fun.

4. Altered Beast - I know I know, this doesn't hold up too well these days but the first time you turned into a creature was breathtaking. You had to be there, but it was a fresh game at the time.

5. Golden Axe - played these so much at Wisconsin Dells and at the local Circus Pizza, fun to play with friends and the variety of attacks were unheard of at the time.

6. Mortal Kombat 2 - Back in High School this was the game! I played this more tha SF. I dunno but the concept of Fatalities and combos made this so special in my book.

7. Lethal Enforcers - Hmm the digitized graphics were cool as was the damage you could do around you. Fun light game.

8. AfterBurner with sit-in cabinet, that thing was so cool and fully immersed you in that game.

9. Shinobi I loved this game, watched my friend beat it.

10. Virtual Fighter 2 so many moves to master

11. Ninja Warriors - The music was amazing and the co op play made it so much fun..

12. Combattribes, I actually injured my hand with this one, or strained it I should say but it was a hell of a beat em up.

13. Tron - the one with the 3 mini games, a local ski resort had it and I spent all my money there.

14. The Punisher - Missed most of a Movie while I played this in the lobby.

15 Killer Instinct - I had fun with it.

I had 15 but 10 is cool too...

Ha, the Boomers 20mins away (used to be shit, but has improved DRASTICALLY) has the sit-down Star Wars cab on free play. Dripdry and I went through that game like a week ago... let's just say he sucks as the pilot.

I forgot to mention it was the Atari version. Are you talking about the Sega one (that was ported to the 32X) Mzo? I think that was the one with the 2 player co-op mode, which was awesome but just barly missed my list.

In some ways I perfer the "Turtles in Time" arcade game, to the original arcade game...probably because I play the original too many times.

Taito's Aqua Jack is a contender but I have only played it through some very choppy emulation so it's hard to tell but it seems excellent. It would be nice to play Konami's awesome G.I. Joe arcade game again but the emulation is similarly awful. Sprite scalers rarely have good emulation.

Don't know why Sega never ported it. Crazy Taxi sold well for the DC didn't it?

6. Space Harrier - Never got a chance to play the new one. Any good?
5. X-Men: Children of the Atom - Best non-SF game before they introduced the VS. junk.
4. X-Men: Konami 2-screen - "Eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-eh-X-MEN!!" Awesome music.
3. Samurai Showdown II - If I ever get around to buying a Neo-Geo, this'd be the first game I'd get.
2. Pac-Man - The first arcade game I ever played. Still addictive to this day.
1. Street Fighter 2 (series) - I skipped out of school many times just to play this. In many ways, this game was the cause of my C average - and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Crazy Taxi was a much more successful arcade game than Jambo Safari. There was mention in magazines about a DC compilation with Jambo, Brave Firefighters and Emergency Call Ambulance but it never appeared.

Planet Harriers is nice looking but lacks excitement. Space Harrier is much better.

What version of Mame are you using to run GI Joe? Just curious. Its also one of my favorite arcade games ever!
