Ninja Gaiden: Official Thread

Ok, Finally got to level 15. I seem to be missing a couple of scarabs, since I have 45 and 1 can be found on level 15, so I guess I will have to come back to Tairon and look through the streets. I know that I didnt miss any at either Airship or Military base, so I guess more detailed city exploration is in order.

Ghost fish were friggin annoying, especially right after fight with Spirit Doku. Fuckers killed me, and I had to replay that damn boss fight. Doky was cheap, with his slashing combo, and life recharge. But Inferno works wonders on him, if you can actually get him with that.

What's the best method to dispose of these infamous "devil fish?" I know someone wrote something a few pages back, but I don't feeling wading through all that crap just to find it.

Either use magic and fry them as the crowd around you, or use Flails and keep doing the combos, hoping that it will get all of them. Usually it worked for me :)

And how about those damned dirty worm things that can kill you in one shot if they grab you? Flail for them, too?

I find there's enough animation canceling to make the game playable. You can cancel alot by blocking, you can cancel guard stun by rolling, and you can counter the enemies. It seems like I can always do my move, cancel the final animation with a block (assuming it's post strike), then counter and be on the move again. Counters make most fights seamless for me.

As for the Tekken Force comparison, it's actually fairly apt, but I suppose I like that style of game. I agree there's too much downtime between fights at time, but NG offers plenty of different types of combat, and plenty of strategic options. It's too bad there's no "Ninja Trigger" though.

Flails plus Fire Wheels is the best, IMO. Some people say the lightning spell, but it really doesn't hit that many fish at once, even at level 3. They give plenty of Ninpo, so you can have a continual fire shield...just be sure to recast, since it doesn't last that long.

What worm things? The electricity and fire worms? They only grab you if you stand still directly in front of them...it takes about 80% of your life. There's no point to stand in front of them anyway, so I assume you're referring to something else.

edit: If you mean the cockroaches, they're a bitch. On Hard, the Flails don't work so well on them...Plasma Blade, Bow, and Ninpo when you gotta is the way to go (especially in the 80 cockroach fight...ugh).

It's been mentioned before, I'm surprised people are still having trouble with the fish. Jump + X with the Dragon Sword. It kills any of them ahead or below you. If you jump the instant you land, you'll never get hit. If you jump back and forth swinging, you'll kill them all. Just make damn sure you jump the instant you land, or you WILL get chewed.

30/40 tries total, and I'm thinking more like closer to 30. I played against her for a bit, then shut off the machine, then got her pattern down, and went back.....got killed.........shut off the machine, went back and beat her.

I tried that, but it just didn't seem to hit them very often...it took longer than the Fire Wheel/Flail method because I sort-of had to wait for them to be in my jumping path.
