As a huge fan of DoAX, he never had to answer to me XD!!! Itagaki is supreme.
After months of naysaying, I regret to admit how incredibly awesome this bitchin' game really is. And I'm sure the final rev will be even better. It's like DMC fucked PoP in the ass while DOA was watching in the corner.
My cup does, indeed, runneth over. I have now lost one more thing that separates me from Sl1p: my hatred of Itagaki. The lines blur further.
ferricide, i love your reviews.
i want the game now, even though i wasn't too impressed with the demo (only played for 5 minutes.)

Hmm... almost time to start speculating on Code Chronus :o
It will be awesome..Speculation complete..
Did this get posted yet?
Finally, the XBOX Live features revealed. Apparently you get to fight against other players soon :O

What a beautiful post. Ninja Gaiden is gonna rock, it might actually make me buy a new TV and get a router to play Xbox Live in my room. teh ninjas will be everywhere!!!! :D cant wait cant wait cant wait.Quote:

Next week can't get here fast enough! :D
It's also insane how alot of people are still playing the demo alot. Most demos last a day or two, well, excluding that MGS one that came with Z.O.E.
Man, all these impressions and reviews have me excited(I still haven't found the demo in stores but the game will be out soon enough). It sounds like this is the ninja action game I have been waiting for for the past decade. Sega screwed over what used to be the best ninja series and as much as I love Tenchu, it's a different genre.
Tenchu changed alot and I don't really enjoy it as much as I did on the PS version. Tenchu III's demo came along with the NG demo and I remember turning it off after a couple seconds of gameplay.
I thought it was supposed to be pretty much the same as the PS2 version, just with a few extras.
I wasn't impressed with the PS2 demo of Tenchu 3 but the full game was much better.
I still sounds like you will be competeing for the best score on exclusive levels. Although it isn't very clear, it doesn't sound like P vs. P.Quote:

Yeah, I've played the demo through like 15 times, and I still pick it up every couple days.Quote:

Well, because while Twin Snakes will be fun, it really does NOTHING to qualify it as a game of the year. Just incorporates MGS 1 with MGS 2 moves and enhanced graphics. It'll kick ass, but I think Ninja Gaiden and espically MGS 3 will destroy Twin Snakes.Quote:

Most likely, you can tell by all the hype over all those games already. And I actually don't want to see Halo this year, I'm already disappointed at how many games we're thrown into December.
Oh man.. Online play? Damn.

I'm an Itagaki fan myself. He (and Team Ninja - not sure how much Itagaki actually does himself) is without question a master at creating great visuals in games, and making them run smoothly. He does that better than anyone else in the business, bar none. I care about graphics - I like beautiful games. So that means a lot to me.
The gameplay in Team Ninja games hasn't until now completely matched the visuals, but I still like their games. Dead or Alive 2 was one of my favorite Dreamcast games, despite having some flaws. DoA 3 was kind of disappointing, because it was pretty much the exact same thing, and had the same gameplay flaws which by the time of its release had become more glaring. DOA Ultimate should be pretty cool though, with the online play.
And Ninja Gaiden is obviously a masterpiece.
Understandable. Still, I've always thought he had good insight with regard to game design, even if it was at odds with certain factions of geek gamers. (Again, check out his recent interview in XBN.)Quote:

Carmack might have something to say about that ;p Look up efficient in the thesaurus and you'll find his name. Anyway, as much as I wanted to play NG, I didn't think it'd be any good. It's good to hear it's gotten great reviews. Then again, I love Shinobi and that got shat on.
Yeah, well, I'm sure there's a counter-argument to any statement as broad as the one I made. But Itagaki is way up there in that category, you've gotta admit.Quote:

Ditto. I just got done playing TMNT and True Crime :( I'm in an odd predicament though. I just got done ordering my Pop'N Music controller (I finally broke down and had to have one) Along with Pop'N Music 8 and 9. Now it's a race to see what is going to get here first, my Pop'N stuff or Ninja Gaiden. God forbid they all get here on the same day. My head would explode.
And S|1p guts on the floor are not teh cool. Yeah, I said I finished a couple games but I still feel empty, so I popped in about 20 DC games hoping to forget about Gaiden and finish something in the meantime. Gigawing II, Border Down, PGR and Soul Calibur moments later I'm still unsatisfied. But it's good, cause I haven't been into any hype for any game in the last year or so.
Shit!
My copy of Psyviar is on its way, as is a copy of Cosmic Smash. Sadly, both will have to step back for Ninja Gaiden.
...and EB stil owes me my damn wall scroll!
The new Ninja Gaiden's gonna be better than the PS2 Shinobi???? Bullshit, I won't accept that. I won't gosh damn it!!! I refuse to!!! Well... maybe. Maaaaan, I bet Ryu can't even do Tates man. What a loser. He has to use different weapons and stuff. That's so not cool. Hotsuma can kick everyone's ass with a sword. He doesn't need a bow and arrow. Yea, that's right. Hotsuma doesn't need a bow and arrow. He's a good enough ninja to just use his sword. And Ryu doesn't have the cool scarf that Hotsuma has. What good is a ninja if he doesn't have a cool scarf.
I'm not being sarcastic.
1) Wow, terrible opinion, just wow. On the technical aspect, Ninja Gaiden already proves it's better then Shinobi, whether you prefer Shinobi over nostalgia or not.Quote:

I am sad though that it seems pretty unlikly for some of the power ups from the original NGs to be in it, I don't think we will be seeing the multiple Ryu shadows fallowing along, that would be very hard to do I think anyways. Oh well.
Sounds like Team Ninja and Tecmo went crazy on this game in every area including extras.
Now if Team Ninja would just get a new logo for themselve, ugliest logo I have ever seen for anything ever.
Oh, their logo isn't that bad. I've seen worse.

Nice to finally see a decent worthwhile game on the Xbox.

No idea. To even have a clue on that I'd have to know if they mean essence combos as in a real move or just like "essential" combos. Combos that give you gold? Off to do some research i suppose. ;)
Itagaki rules, I told you all so. I win the thread! ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!
Screw that flash site. It's too pretty. I'll stick with the Shinobi website. It has tighter gameplay.
Eh?

It's tough to get that many yellow balls in a single room though, your best bet is to try it out with the vigoorian flail in the room with the trap door.Quote:

I'm fairly certain nobody from the original, Ryu aside, is going to show up.

It seems that the (awesome) music from the original games isn't going to make an appearance, either. I wish they would have kept the old logo, too. Oh well.
it builds; you get bigger yellow balls if you keep killing people using essence combos. it's much easier to do with the bigger, slower enemies later in the game.Quote:

Ahhh, cool! Another thing I noticed is that yellow balls absorbed during an essence combo don't count towards your total at the end. If my understanding is correct and the yellow is used like money, it might pay off to use the essence combos sparingly. Some of those big yellow balls are worth a lot.Quote:

And c'mon, we all know we're getting a sequel now that this one has proved to be exceptional... so we can start with the hoping now :)
Also, more DOA characters too... Hayate and Kasumi in particular... surprised they aren't in there (from what I've seen so far).
Hayate maybe, but Kasumi is a shinobi. She wouldn't want to be anywhere near all this ninja kickassness..Ain't here bag anymore.

Otogi is an average action game. Orta is the second best game on Xbox. :pQuote:

Ummmm... that would be the reason why I used the word "if". Once you get off the rag for the month, you should look it up. I don't think that anyone would argue against the value in having the best versions of multiplatform games and having the only console versions of many PC games.Quote:
