An interesting news story making the rounds. Not sure if it is true of not, and there isn't much detail in the blurb.
Would be nice if it was true.

I wonder if this means any new games are coming out with it?
Also I wonder if they still plan on selling system shells, I've been thinking of converting mine to black as to match with my saturn and genesis. ;)
It could be true. I originally thought a retail re-release, and was was like::wtf:
It doesn't specify if they are actually producing new units or if they just found some new/old stock.
is the price there saying its going to be $130 bucks?
for a dreamcast?
is sega smoking crack?
Finally the Xbox sees some competition.
Well, duh...Quote:

And please, all prices in Japan are stupid. I'm not surprised at all that Sega is going to try to sell the system again for that price.
They've been smoking crack since 1995. About time you caught on.Quote:

it says something like 13452 yen as the price...
in nearly 4 years, i've never seen a product priced as a non-rounded-to-5/10 yen figure.
Also, given that you can buy brand new DC's for around 6000 yen (with an official price of 9800 yen) , i don't see how they'd get away with charging that sort of price (especially as a GC goes for 14,000).
Anyways, i'd say someone has got the wrong end of the stick with this rumour.
Inclined to say it's a delightful mix of bull and shit. However, the release date is Feb 24th, the day Sega's Puyo Puyo Fever is released on DC. Doubtful, but I could see it. *-neo
It better not be the generic white color for that much. :yuck:Quote:

There are a bunch of great NEW games coming for the DC soon: shikigami II, psyvariar 2, puyo puyo, etc. Not to mention recent games like BorderDown. It only makes sense to make more units available. I'll buy a new one if it's under $100 (as my japanese DC is probably on its last legs, though I still haven't had a single problem with it!). Maybe they'll put a DVD drive in it (that also reads GD-ROMs) so you can watch movies? Maybe that's why it's $130?? Maybe not.... :(
At least it was delightful? :)Quote:

Can you even get 1 or 2 yen coins any more?Quote:

Actually, this makes me wonder if someone like Majesco will try rereleasing DC later on as buget system. Similar to what they did with Genesis, Game Gear and were planning to do with Saturn....
That seems to be a recurring theme with them. You don't wanna buy this crap? Then we'll give you more chances and choices than all the markets that it actually does well in!Quote:

They updated the site. They have DC's selling on the 24th.

Yeah, I see they give you a free puyo puyo cellphone strap with the DC. That's worth $130? For a DC and a $0.10 cellphone strap? Give me a break.
Actually, they might give you the Puyo Puyo Fever game with it. Then it might be worth it. But in the description they have on segadirect, they only overtly mention the cellphone strap. Even though the name of the product is "Sega Dreamcast reissue and Puyo Puyo Fever set".
Top selling game for Japanese Xbox last week:Quote:

Of course the top selling PS2 game was like 80,000 copies :) *-neo
Nobody embraced the system anywhere. Dreamcast was a huge failure.Quote:

I know it wasn't that huge of a success, but it still has a larger userbase than both XBox and GC doesn't it?Quote:

Uhh... no, I dont think so, and if it does, Im sure a large part of that is because of units that were being given away at the end of the system's lifecycle (like a year and a half after it came out). In any case, only a small small fraction of systems purchased are still being used today so it's a moot point.Quote:

I don't think it's more often than it should have. Games like Otogi, Tekki, and anything by Team Ninja sell well while crappy releases like Tao Feng and Blinx and a mass of games MS doesn't bother to localize sell like crap... and for such a weak effort, I'd say they deserve to.Quote:

Don't get me wrong, I love my DC and Genny. I own more games for the DC than any other console I've ever had (except the Atari 2600 and those fun $.99 catridge sales post '84)
I have just come to the realization the Sega I know and love is just about dead. And whats left of its corpse is being screwed by a pachinko machine manufacturer.
I keep waiting for the news of when the licences get sold off a-la 3D0.
Well some good news. The bundle does include Puyo Puyo Fever, not just a high priced DC. Link from insert credit:

Does it come in a sexy LE box?
Very doubtful, hell I'd be amazed if the DC comes in a box. *-neoQuote:
