I'm not sure that's all of it. But assuming that's part of the problem (and it's been like that in other games) the only thing I could suggest is to play with fewer bots, or see if there's an option to reduce the number of times they "think" per time period or whatnot. That second option is going to be an obscure console setting, if it exists. Kinda doubtful.
I'm surprised the difference between single and multi is so dramatic for you.
I have a few problems..
-Loading is ridiculously long for me. The demo loaded maps within 10 seconds, this time it's taking around 20. I start getting bored..
-In single player, randomly before a match my mouse will get all fucked up. The sensitivity randomly goes up and down and it can't decide wether it's inverted or not. Stupiddddd..
Anyways, I'm all freaked out and blaming my system. I'm using the worst motherboard ever since my last one died and was discontinued, and I'm also on Windows 2000. So now I'm gonna look into motherboards again (Maybe an MSI for my AMD2700+) and a bunch of other stupid. Auhgg..
The higher resolution textures featured in the full version are quite possibly adding to the load time.
Setting all the displays to max level results in the announcer yelling "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT (echo)"
I just hit the UT2004 forums and it sounds like a lot of people are having the exact same problem with single player. Hopefully Epic will check into it soon, it almost sounds like it might be a bug.Quote:

As I mentioned go to Settings: Game Tab.
Deselect the option to Preload all player skins... then your long load time problem will be gone.

So I just got off of my first UT2k4 binge, and what a fuckin ride! I just played from 5-1, ignoring all work and women that crossed my path. This game is just too much. Way too many maps, way too much depth, I really can't get enough. IMO the best level I have found is the Onslaught map where there is only one node inbetween you and your opponents base. I played on a 32 player game on that map and it was craziness. The game ended up lasting close to an hour, fuckin Raptor planes and their homing missiles. Anywho, I'm dillusional now and my eyes burn. Blaze one down, then peace to bed.
Onslaught Severance is a great map.
That is all.

2 quick questions:
1) How many of you are using a microphone for in game chat?
2) How many of you purchased the SE?
I ask because Best Buy put the SE on sale Tuesday (the Sunday ad claimed that it wouldn't be released till Thursday) and now the SE is already sold out. I really wanted that free microphone that came with the SE, and the convenience of only keeping tabs on one DVD would have been a plus. If enough people are using the in game chat I suppose I will just go ahead and buy the regular version and a cheap headset.
