I read about this one a while ago, sounded cool because it was supposed to be very story-driven.
They wanted to make an MMORPG that let you feel like you were as important a character as you would be in any offline RPG... which is a cool thing to work for I think.
But... it's not World of Warcraft so in the end, I don't really care about the title. Bummer for the employees though.
""after careful evaluation of the MMORPG landscape, MGS has decided to stream-line its portfolio, making fewer investments in this genre."
Translation: This game sucked compared to everything else already out there and coming out, so we cut it.
We're probably lucky that we didnt get a bomb. Hopefully the people getting the ax will get good jobs soon, I wish the best of luck to them.

I sure hope they did. Some of their Xbox stuff is incomprehensibly bad. OK, not that ba...never mind.
You're asking for a game that can not exist in an MMORPG context since essentially you have thousands of people all wanting to be the main or just an important character. To do that you'd have to make a thousand stories and that level of effort into a single game is completely insane.Quote:

Sorta like what Blizzard is currently doing with WoW.Quote:

Being a hero but doing it with friends and existing in a very well fleshed out online persistent world is quite enjoyable.
Your translation skills need work. My translation is "the market is oversaturated as is and dozens more are coming out in the next year and we have no significant fan base from Asheron's Call to migrate to this one, and everyone's gonna be playing World of Warcraft anyway. Even if it was the best game ever nobody was gonna play it."Quote:

I just started FFXI last night.Quote:

Aside from that, not bad.
Mzo, you really need this.
I can't play the game with the keyboard, but it plays perfectly with the Dual Shock 2.
Target/control menus with the d-pad, move with the left analog stick, camera with the right analog stick, and the other twelve useable buttons let you control just about everything else.
If you don't want to use a PS2 controller, then at least do this... never use the mouse. Go all keyboard, I hear that works out alright (but you don't get any analog movement of course).
That's more what I was thinking.Quote:
