It's definitely depressing... but what can you do? It's not like one can force them to get cultured.Quote:

J & L was always more expensive but sometimes Penguin was sold out out of a particular game--you were compelled to put down the $5~$10 more (Looks at JAP Marvel Vs. Capcom 2). The third store popped up around 1998 I believe and it was run by an ex Penguin employee I think. I got my moded DC there and they often undercut Penguin. It truly was a gamer's market down there. There's nothing like being in an import gaming store with a huge selection and also seeing people try out the new games. I haven't been down there in years--it was so sad to see just Penguin(Evo) down there.Quote:

Personally id say your better off (and itll be cheaper) to ship your PS2 to Matt and have him do it
back before i got mine modded by Matt JnL wanted $180 to mod a PS2
I believe this news!
(Been wanting to say that for a while...)
Chinatown Fair is the only decent arcade available. It hosts some of the best competition in a variety of 2D/3D fighting games such as CVS2, MVC2, Soul Calibur 2, etc. Perhaps the only complaint newcomers would have with the place is its infamous stench (and I don't mean from the building itself) ;)Quote:

Fucking shit, change that sig, clownboat.
Hey I'm not knocking the Chinatown Fair--if I want my ass kicked in a game of tic tac toe by a chicken I know where to go--and I enjoy the joyless indifference of the money change guy. Of course there's always great competition there but It just saddens me that a lot of the fighting games there are over 5 years old now :\ .Quote:

That chicken is gone man. Been gone for almost 4 years now.
And most of the games that are naturally dated get a LOT more traffic than much of whatever is currently available from arcade manufacturers.
Hanzo, penquin village doesn't have a "sign" on it as it were to recognize it. Basically you go into Penquin Village and it's the only gaming store left located past the bottom floor as highlighted by a few folks in this thread.
Chinatown Fair...you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany...Quote:
