How is your cell phone service?

Word. That's my problem with T-Mobile. AT&T's coverage in Boston is completely pathetic, but when I go home (middle of nowhere, PA), it's fine. I'm under contract with AT&T until August and I don't feel like dropping $175 to drop it, then buying a new phone under T-Mobile and paying activation charges and what-not, just to be unable to get good coverage when I'm home, which is roughly half the year, or a little less.

Though, it's still tempting just so I wouldn't have to worry about missing calls because I was moving at the time.

I'd be interested to hear what other people here in Boston are using, and how it's working out for them.

I *USE* to have Sprint (I'm also in FL) and I hated it. I could never get a signal in my house, always had to go outside. Service sucked and it always seemed I was getting ripped come bill time. My contract expired and I went with AT&T last month and I get more minutes for way less $$$ and plus I get 15% off for being a government employee.

I get great service everywhere I go and I haven't had a problem. The only thing I dislike is if you trying to get in contact with AT&T you have to wait like 10 minutes to get someone on the phone.

Shinobi, since you're in FL, AT&T has great service. Reason why FL will have great service is because they have open areas and no tall buildings. If you live in a area like NYC, the tall buildings will block the reception.

Also, the more towers that sends out signals, the better the reception. So since you're in FL, you wouldnt have to worry about reception.

Again T-Mobile and Cingular IN FLORIDA makes you gay...

Another thing to consider is how much you travel and where. One reason I went with Sprint was because I used to travel between NJ and VA a lot, and at the time I signed up, Sprint was the only reliable provider in both areas (though that has now changed).

The dude doesnt want a $39.00 a month cell bill.. do you really think he is going to travel much? :p

If he he even has a car its probally held together with duct tape.. gotta keep the new games rolling in before worrying about worrysome shit like a tricked out ride and a flossing cell phone. :lol:

AT&T's GSM coverage is a joke and should be avoided at all costs, I never had problems with their regular digital plan other than somewhat subpar reception. I guess cingular just bought ATT so maybe that will change. I have sprint and they are fine as long as you don't need their crappy customer service. No dropped calls, and pretty good sound quality.

AT&T's GSM isnt that bad. Again, I have used my AT&T GSM in FL, and there was full bars and hardly any "no services" as for in NYC, there were some problems. And if he isnt going to be traveling..I would suggest AT&T as almost everyone in FL using AT&T's GSM service.

Thanks for the help everyone, so far the general consenus is to go for Verizon. I've been asking everyone I know around and everyone has different services, and they all seem happy with what they have.

I can't say that I travel a whole lot. The only out of state trips I make is between L.A. (for E3) and to New Jersey, which I go every once in awhile. So, I'll probably look for something just local to me.

I still have much research to do, and I have another question. It is possible to choose your own phone number? It doesn't hurt to ask, who wouldn't want their number to be something along the lines of
M-E-G-A-M-A-N. :)

in my experience, you pick an area code and they give you one. My mom, sister, and myself got phones at the same time and we are all the same area code but completely different... whatever the next three numbers are called. Exchanges or whatever.

And I wouldnt want that number. But I hate Mega Man.
