It'd be funny if the bitching and moaning gets so intense that the server that the page is stored on blows up.Quote:

wow, i just vomited up the biggest chunk of pulsating apathy ever.
i would like to like SNK playmore but i don't have any evidence that i should. then again, i didn't spend $300 on metalslug 12 (maybe i'd like them if i did, assuming it was good.) KOF is semi-impenetrable and hardly exciting to anyone but the series' diehard fans. with guilty gear X around, why should i be interested?
i would like to like this news but right now i am not expecting anything. putting any sort of faith in SNKP is pretty much asking to be made to cry.
Great news. Even if they are sequels its going to be worth seeing upgraded graphics and new sprite art. I'm now throwing out my old carts into the bin as we speak because I no longer need them. jk Xbox = the neo geo. Kof2k3 through finalburn kicks ass! The arcade cabinets should just secretly have computers running the emulators since the hardware is so outdated people wouldn't even notice the difference! :D (I have actually seen this happen in an arcade with a normal dreamcast running GGX instead of whatever board it should be running from) You wouldn't be limited to a single game on the cab though.
Metal Slug 6 is in the making? shit I haven't even finished no.5! Why are they rushing them out so quickly?! SNKP are getting desperate I think. The audience will get smaller for each title they churn out because they don't allow enough space between releases and it runs the risk of making people sick of the games. One thing I would like to see is sega (see below)doing thier own 2d shinobi, golden axe or streets of rage on the atomiswave. They haven't touched 2d action games in ages. Capcom have at least contributed to gba releases and viewtiful joe. It would be good if 2d made a comeback on machines using better hardware for once.

Hajime Satomi assumes the top management position at the Japanese publisher.
TOKYO--Following today's stockholder meeting, Sammy president Hajime Satomi has been appointed as chairman of Sega. Effective February 17, Satomi will take over the top management slot at the company, thus pushing former chairman Hideki Sato in to the vice chairman's seat. Sega's current president, Hisao Oguchi, will continue to hold his position in the company.
In a related story, Yoshiharu Suzuki, Sammy's executive in charge of arcade games, has also been appointed to Sega's board of directors. Suzuki’s position at Sega will be also effective on February 17. To accommodate the changes, CSK chairman Masahiro Aozono and CSK director Makoto Kaneshiro resigned from their positions at Sega the day before the meeting.
Sammy Corporation, Japan's leading Pachinko machine manufacturer, acquired a 22.4 percent stake of Sega from CSK in December, thus becoming Sega's top shareholder. Satomi previously commented that Sammy is considering the acquisition of additional Sega shares and will possibly make Sega a full-blown subsidiary in the future.
Sammy has been aggressively extending its reach in to the arcade market by developing and releasing a library of new titles for its arcade cabinet, the Atomiswave. While Sega has been relatively silent about its relationship with Sammy, Sega president, Hisao Oguchi, announced earlier this month that Sega will be working with Sammy in the arcade game business by merging its overseas operations and possibly developing titles for Sammy’s Atomiswave platform.
Satomi’s inauguration as chairman of Sega comes only three days before the February 20-21 AOU arcade show kicks off in Japan. Sammy is expected to make a number of announcements regarding its Atomiswave at the show, although it is unknown if the information will be related to Sega.

I seriously hope KOF2004 wont turn out like what IGS did with Knights of Valour on the Atomiswave.... I've got a nasty feeling it might though with the dev and release dates being quite narrow.
Well we don't really know how long they have been working on these games so who knows. I guess we'll find out in May when King Of Fighters 2004 arrives for beta testing.
Kron, what did IGS do with the Atomiswave version of Knights of Valour?
Just the usual 3D backgrounds / fake low res atrocities.Quote:

Disgusting! Absolutely disgusting! I'm no graphics whore, but atrocities like these should be punished. Nothing goes together at all. I'll take my low resolution SNK Playmore crap over this anyday...
Does the game play any good though or is the gameplay as shitty as the graphics?
Well, hardware differences should be kept in mind... compare KOF '95 to Madden '95 (PS1 version). Then compare Madden 2003 (PS1 version) to KOF 2003. Suddenly SNK-style upgrading doesn't seem so bad. :PQuote:
