Just to get an idea of who we have here are you Old School or New School?
Did you start out playing Atari, Coleco Vision, Nes, SMS or otherwise old school.
Or
Did you start out on Playstation,Saturn, N64 or otherwise new school.
This isnt about what you "went back" and played but what was out when you became a gamer.
Middle School :)
I started with SNES, GENESIS and from there on :)
I started gaming with Atari ST, Amiga 500 and Commodore 64. No idea what that makes me.
I personally lump that in with old school, and consider the last two generations new...Quote:

Middle school aussi. I did play with atari for a bit in '91 but it was shit compared to the arcades. Then I got an NES. But I truly only liked and still like, the arcades. Don't even get me started on 3D, FPS, or 3rd person platformers.

Vic-20 and Atari 2600. I still remember when that was top-of-the-line state-of-the-art equipment. Makes me appreciate things nowadays a bit more.
I got my Genesis for my 7th birthday. It came with Sonic Spinball. And my grandmother gave me Aero the Acrobat and Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse. And a week and a half later at Christmas, I got Sonic and Knuckles and Ren and Stimpy: Stimpy's Adventure. Ah, the sweet, sweet memories.
The truly sad thing is that among those 5 games, Ren and Stimpy is the only one I beat. I've gotten to the last level of Sonic Spinball, but I've never been able to get far in any of the other games. Perhaps one day I'll sit down and finally beat them.
I got a GameBoy the summer between 2nd and 3rd grade. My first game was Donkey Kong, followed by Super Mario Land 2 a month or so later.
However, this was in 93 or so, so the 32 bit generation was just around the corner.
Way old. Started with apple IIe playing conan and karataka.
We're all too old to ask that question.
You would be surprised, I think allot are not saying anything due to the fun we may make of them. :)

I was playing Pong at 3.
I finished SMB at 4...I thought that was impressive :(
Pole Position was my favorite Atari game, especially with the trackball. I also enjoyed E.T. oddly enough...
I went to a bowling alley that had good arcades. Always went after pole position or Mr. Do!, they even had the vector star wars arcade and tempest side by side.
I'd still be going there if it hadn't burned down. :cry:
The first game I ever played was Dark Castle on a Mac II. After that I got an NES when I turned five.

I was forbidden to play my brother's NES back then. My mother said it wasn't something girls should do...
Whenever she left, my father would play mario with me on and off, and later on he sat me down and showed me Doom and Duke Nukem.
We got a Genesis when I was six, for my brother at Christmas. Came bundled with Columns. By that point I didn't talk to my mother much anymore, and about a year later she gave up keeping me away from games. My brother lost his interest after Sonic 2, and the Genny was mine. ah, the hours I spent with Columns...
But I really got into games with the late PSone/PS2 launch. I missed everything before that (hell, I just got a SNES last month for the first time) so I'm definitely not old school.
I say we tar and feather the first person to break our 100% run on old school.
Can we ride them out of TNL on a rail too?

I feel that anything after the Colecovision is New School. Videogames are around 33 years old now and if anything, the NES is like going back and listening to Guns and Roses. Old yes, but hardly old school.

old school. Was introduced to gaming by way of Super pong (which I still have), and then the Intellivision which was my brothers (Demon Attack and Carnival were the shit). When I was nine I got my first system, a SMS.

I started my gaming on a SMS but I was only around 5 years old at the time. By the time I had owned it for about a year I had beat Alex Kid in Miracle World though...
I'm 20, so my first memories are those of both the 2600 and NES. It doesn't matter when you started gaming, as long as you're having fun. I have a friend who got into gaming with the PS2 and she's more enthusiastic than friends' who've been playing for years. That's what really matters.
Old school. My first was an Atari 7800. Man, what a piece of shit.

oldskool, beserk(2600) for life, i remember when the system wars were when the colecovision kids argued with the more ghetto 2600 kids(including me), but we won..because we got smurfs..eventually. if you dont know why smurfs was a victory, you might be new school. And i still remember freaking out when q-bert hit 2500. but back then i should really say arcades were my first system, back in the 80 they had arcades everywhere, pizza places, grocery stores, laundromats. plus there were tons of games, so you could go to a far away mall,and find arcade games you never even heard of, unlike now, where the few remaining arcades are either clones of each other, or in such disrepair that the tekken 2 machine and golden tee machine arent even working.
