Anti-Gay Marriage Constitutional Amendments?
Hey guys,
I just watched the presidential briefing of the press, on the Bush Administration's views on same sex marriages. He says his Cabinet will do everything in its power to "Protect" the sanctity of the definition of marriage in America. He wants Congress to pass amendments to the constitution, that state clearly the definition of a legal marriage in America. He says a few "activist" courts around America have broken several federal laws in the issuing of state licensed marriages to same sex couples.
This brings up many questions: What is the definition of a marriage between two people, be it homo or hetero-sexual? If there is a difference between the two, what is it? And finally; who are we to say that gay couples can't possibly be in love, or that heterosexual marriages are more deserving of the bonds of matrimony?
I think it all boils down to how conservative the average American is. Though, I think the only conservatives with a loud voice happen to be the ones with all the money.
Opinion: I am for gay marriages, though I am hetero, my sister is not, and she is engaged to her long time love (6 yrs) to be married in June of 2005. Who are we to say they can't get a tax break, or insurance for their children if they see fit. Personally, I want to first define a loving marriage for my self, before I do it for others.
YAY AMERICA!!!!
What do you think? Or do you even care?
