I was hoping they'd put out a second one, since the first one did fairly well. Hopefully they'll put more of an effort into the extras and GUI this time.

Midway vol1 is one of my five favorite games on Xbox (and I totally own all of you at Paperboy by the way) and I am psyched for this one.

They better keep Live support!

Total Carnage? I played the shit out of that game at a local arcade. Wonder if it is fun as it used to be. But yeah, this could be worth buying at 10 or 20.

Couldn't they have kept the MK shit seperate from the games that are worth buying?

I mean I'll probably get this when it shows up but I hate the idea of exchanging my money for any Mortal Kombat products, or any product that they are related with. I've spent the last decade successfully avoiding spending a cent on any MK item (game, movie, or otherwise) and I'd like that streak to continue.

Aside from the very poor emulation of Blaster, the first compilation was good stuff. I hope they don't skimp on the number of games for this one just because these games are newer.

I'm actually looking forward to an arcade perfect port of MKII.

It's about damn time! This is an instant purchase. I hope they'll squeeze some other games in there too, as well as developer interviews.

Well, it won't be, since the game'll almost certainly be running in a high-res and filtered (!) screen mode like the Vol. 1 games were.

It'll probably be as close as we'll ever get though, barring any emulation snafus.

At least there will be NO Shang Tsung load times.

Narc is in there- good, GOOD. :) Hopefully they'll throw in Strike Force since the first two Defenders made it into the original MAT. We also have to have Xybots this time around.

Finally, an arcade-perfect version of the original MK...

I really enjoyed the first, but that was because I liked those games. NZE, Blaster isn't that messed up originally?

Oh yeah, I too was disappointed by the (lack of) extras. Only a few games had anything of interest.

Try Blaster on MAME and it's much smoother and faster. I have the GC compilation and it's so slow(mostly on the first level with the arches) that I don't want to play it.

Well, FWIW, I owned both the PS2 and XB versions, and the XB version had games that played better than the PS2 rev (smooth SmashTV and Rampage, among others). I don't think I attempted Blaster on the PS2 (and can't as I ditched that version).

This will be the best kompilation ever.

At $20, I can't komplain! :D

All four of the games I mentioned have some legal issues that will most likely keep them from being rereleased. And I'd much rather play NBA Jam with the original players instead of a version with updated rosters (if thats what you mean).

I also mean they probably can't use the original players either, I'd imagine they'd have to relicense all of that, since I doubt the b-ball players who were in NBA Jam, and still playing today, would want a cut.

I would weep with joy if they put an arcade perfect port of Killer Instinct onto the GameCube version.

Ah well, I own MAT on PS2, need to swap it out for the Gamecube version at some point, and will probably get volume 2 just to have it. And then go back to playing them in MAME.

The MK games being on this will justify the (likely) $20 price tag. I'd love to see WWF WrestleMania: the Arcade Game get a perfect home port, but that'll probably never happen.

Keep in mind that Midway compilations aren't limited to Midway's games. They have the rights to Williams and Atari Games stuff. I would love to see STUN Runner and Hydra. I also wish Midway would get the TRON rights from Disney again and re-release the old arcade games.

Moon Patrol is in Arcade's Greatest Hits: The Midway Collection 2 for PS1, if it's any consolation.

It's also in the DC compilation pack of a similar name, which, surpringly, EB had a copy of today for $10.

Agreed. The first edition was decent, but my biggest complaint was that nearly every game gave you a preset configuration. There should've been an option allowing the player to customize the controls according to their tastes. Also, some games like Smash T.V. could've been a bit better in the sound department; overall, the quality wasn't that clear (SNES was much better IMO). They could've done a better job, especially on the next-gen hardware.

And finally, Midway should put a bit more love into the front-end menu system. It seems like they cooked up that GUI within 5 minutes with no sort of creativity whatsoever.

About damn time we see some shit like this. Finally some 90's arcade games. MK1 and 2? Hell yeah. Whens this coming out? Must know what other games are on there.

I knew it. I bought the first collection to give to a friend for Christmas (he loves Smash TV). The game didn't seem as good as the SNES version but I couldn't pinpoint the problem. *-neo

My biggest gripe was the sound. I didn't mind the front end, despite its cheesiness, but the difference in how Sinistar sounds in MAME vs how it sounds on the Treasures collection is just wrong. The sound emulation needed serious work that they didn't give it.

Which is why I play these games in MAME even with owning the collection. That, and having a real trackball for Marble Madness. :)

Wow, what a weird conicnidence - I'm suprised to see this getting so much love here. A couple of weeks ago, my roommate and I were playing go, and I mentioned how much it reminded me of this old game Rampart. Turns out he used to play it all the time too. The next day, by insane coincidence, my friend comes over with vol. 1 which just happened to have the game on it.

Somehow myself, my room mate, his girlfriend, her cousin, and 5 people who come by regularly have been addicted to it for the last 2 weeks - it gets dragged out any time anyone comes over - and three other people I know have gone out and bought it. I guess some of the classics still have power. I'm curious to see if there are anymore gems waiting to be rediscovered on vol. 2.

Oh god yes. We had that arcade cabinet in the break room at a Hotel I used to work night shift at. I must have spent at least half of my shifts playing that thing. My Sabrewulf was badass.

Team X-Box is right. I just confirmed with Midway this morning, though they couldn't confirm whether it would be MK3, UMK3, or both.

It'll apparently be at E3, so we'll learn more then.

Midway could actually get away with charging $40-$50 for this one. There's lots of folk who want arcade-perfect LEGAL versions of MK 1-3 and are willing to pay for it.

I'm one of them... but I appreciate the cheapness.

Finally, I can play an arcade perfect version of Pit Fighter, now if they put the sequel on there, which I don't think even saw a release, that'd be even better. NARC, the MKs, Rampage World Tour, Total Carnage, Hard Drivin', Primal Rage, and Spy Hunter 2 will give me more than enough incentive to get this opening day.

While I'm not a big Midway fan, I think Capcom, Konami, Nintendo, Sega, Namco and others should take note:

OK BoB, I'll give you Spy Hunter 2. That game sucks so bad, it needs to be kept away from other arcade machines lest it strip the paint off a neighboring cabinet. Otherwise, I could not agree less.

Total Carnage, STUN Runner, Pit Fighter (you gotta love finishing off a downed opponent with Brutality attacks), Xybots, and Narc are the stuff. :D All the other games are a great bonus. I just wish this were coming out sooner (Fall 2004- damn).

Primal Rage 2 in MAT3, perhaps?

I'd love to see Capcom do one filled up with the games of their smaller series. One that includes the GnG games, the Slam Masters games, the Strider series, all of the Darkstalkers, and Bionic Commando thrown in for good measure would be awesome. I would thrown in the SFs, but they could make a mint marketing an SF collection with every SF game on it. And of course, the same thing goes for the Mega Man games, which should give Capcom a nice test-run as to how well these types of things can sell.

This game list is awesome. I'm certainly going to be buying this one as soon as it's released!

Fantatic lineup, I really hope they change the front end of the menu system they had for part one. I think you could make an argument for that having the worst front end menu ever. If I wanted super compressed FMV i'll just play Wing Commander 3 on my PS1 thank you very much.

They went above and beyond with this Volume 2 set. I'm...I'm in shock right now.

Dude, it's like if Shakespeare's plays got split into two volumes and you bought Vol. 1 because it had Hamlet, the Tempest, and Midsummer Night's Dream. Does that mean that Vol. 2 sucks because it doesn't have those plays? No, it's just a different yet equally brilliant collection.

Same deal with the Midway collections. Just because the second collection has a different assortment of games doesn't make it worse.

I remember playing in the arcade first time on the wacky multi-monitor machine and thinking it was the coolest thing ever.

I think a good percentage of this board really has no concept of how fantastic these old Atari/Midway/Williams games are, because they played them for the first time (if at all) on the NES.

Take Xenophobe for example. I can understand a lack of enthusiasm if your only memory comes from the shitty NES port, but the arcade version was so much fun! Three screens, three players, fun weapons, great artwork...

I totally forgot about the NES one, honestly ;p

Jeez that's just fucking sweet and at $20 it truly is a steal.
