Sneakers
Any of you have an interest in or a collection of sneakers? It's not something I'm that familiar with, but I know that there are a lot of people out there that are really into collecting them - Posudnuous from De La Soul has like 400 pairs, Biz Markie's got hundreds, so on. It's popular in Japan.
I only own a couple of pairs, but I got this one a couple of weeks ago - they're called something like Air Dunk Hi Premium Shima Shima IIs, and they're awesome, comfortable. They've got this weird print lining, "shima shima" written in hiragana on the tongue, all suede. European release that was designed in Japan. There's a lot of stuff I wouldn't get (white sneakers, most brightly colored sneakers), but there's a lot of good stuff too.
Some of it can be stupidly expensive, I saw a pair of Stussy Dunks for $800. Old Jordans can go for more than that. Most of the time, though, you can get new sneakers for like $70-$90, which isn't half-bad.

I dont collect sneakers cause I like to wear them, and wear them out. Some of those old skate shoes can go for some real cash too.
Personally, I think collecting shoes makes as much sense as collecting anything else, as long as it is just that, a collection. As opposed to some women who just have to buy shoes.
And I try to never spend over $50 on shoes.

Ah, shit, I wouldn't buy a pair of shoes if I wasn't going to wear them. But, really, after about two pairs of sneakers, you don't need anymore of them, so anything past that is a collection.
There are sneaker magazines in Japan, it's crazy.

Also, to go on a tangent. My school spends WAY too much money salting the sidewalks. They put like pounds of it. This is wisconsin, we are used to slippery sidewalks, we will make it. That salt gets on everything and just ruins your shoes. I have some black sneakers/boots that the color is just being eaten away by salt.

Yeah - that's a good thing about living in Los Angeles. These suede sneakers would be worthless in Connecticut.

I don't collect shoes but I never get rid of them. I have a pair of green and black airwalks that I've had since eighth grade that may just be my favorite pair of shoes. I also like my red and black pumas a lot.

Never saw shoes as something collectable. Strikes me as kind of dumb, but hey, to each his own... I guess.
I've been wearing the same pair of Airwalks for 3 years. They need replacing pretty badly. Thinking another pair of Airwalks or Vans will be excellent. I couldn't imagine buying more than one or two pairs at once because when I get set with a really good shoe, I don't want to give it up until it's destroyed beyond repair.

I usually get one set and use them until they are no longer wearable. Typically I try to go with van classics or any other brand that makes a classic sneaker look. I prefer Vans because typically their shoes are made well enough that if you don't work in them they will look new for a very long time.
For anyone who collects shoes, I have a size 10 1970 something set of vans. Virtually new, only worn twice.

I don't wear sneakers. I cover my feet in mud and bake them in the oven

I have a pair of suede Reeboks. They are awesome.
If I had more money I would own more shoes.
