Peace out, girl scout.
IGN reviewed it, calling it the "Best Mortal Kombat Ever".
http://ps2.ign.com/articles/552/552904p1.html
Here's the breakdown:
9.0 Presentation
We don't know how they do it, but Midway has somehow mixed blood and guts with a humorous touch for that unique unexplainable beast that is Mortal Kombat.
8.0 Graphics
The characters still have a plastic look to them and the animations are somewhat stiff. But the stages and environments are top notch, while the particle effects and fatalities look cool.
7.5 Sound
Deception's soundtrack is pretty solid, but the audio lacks a real punch when it comes to the sound effects and voice-overs. But we're not sure if that counts, as the vocals are intentionally bad.
8.0 Gameplay
A more refined gameplay system than Deadly Alliance makes for a much more balanced and playable game. The CPU AI is inconsistent though, and the combos are still simplistic and canned.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
It's going to be hard to run out of things to do here. Kombat Chess, Puzzle Kombat, a 30-hour Konquest mode, 24 playable characters, almost 50 fatalities, 700 unlockables, and online play is awesome.
8.8 OVERALL
DAMNIT! Online play is tempting me to buy it. Plus the puzzle mode looks rad. Even the Kollectors edition looks cool enough to buy.... mmmm arcade perfect MK1. :D I'm such a fool for loving MK 1 and 2 back in the days of Street Fighter and MK.
IGN put up some onllne play videos a few days ago. Lag free (on Live anyway) is the way to be.
Gonna have to disagree a bit here.Quote:

Does anyone know who's doing the strategy guide, or if it's already out? I know it's too much to ask of the team to list the fatalities in game, so there goes another 15-20 bucks =/
Just wait for the game to come out and in less than a day the fatalities will be ready to be printed out from gamefaqs.
Which version are you guys getting for xbox? Normal or Kollector?
Already used EB's trade in deal to get a ton of extra credit, so I sprung for the Kollector's Edition since it cost me about 10 dollars total in cash.Quote:

If I paid an extra 7 bucks (on shipping, game cost me 37.99 online instead of 32 something in store) for a Gradius V bonus dvd, I can do it with MK.
XBN has given the game 5 out of 10.
5 of 10?? Damn. IGN gave it a 8.8.
