Didn't you do like several 10 hit combos in the finals? Slap me silly [don't] but that's sick if you just played the game. Don't listen to the hate, but dont buy this game either.Quote:

Basically the same fighting engine as MK: DA apparently (haven't played it). Take that as you will.Quote:

Goodtimes. :D
Too bad our "EvilMog" Xbox is dead for now.
Damn, this release certainly caught me off guard.
I'll buy it another time though, low on cash.
I'll be on in a few.
So, since he posted that, we've been trying to play eachother. No dice. Other people have played me, but I can't get ahold of Korly.
When I started playing online I was over 2000 in rank. When I just quit, I'm now #19 :) 35 wins and 6 losses. Its amazing how much ass you can kick if you learn one combo, the special moves and the fatalites to rub it in. I'll probably get my ass kicked tomorrow once people figure out how to play the game, but tonight, I'm a winner :) The more I play the game, the more I like it. I didnt even get to do the Hari Kari because the only losses I had were from getting pitted.
A couple people did quit on me but I get the win anyways so it doesnt really bother me.....unlike Capcom vs SNK 2.......fucking quitters. Most of the people I did play were really good sports and didnt talk any shit. One thing that is cool though is that people really cant button mash and get results.
Man the rumors started already...
Apparently people think Sektor might still be in, as he was really heavily rumored awhile ago, and he does have his own production art in the Krypt (but so did Baraka in MK:DA, so that's not saying much).
Apparently someone on GameFAQ's hacked the game, and found out that Jax has all the necessary files to be a playable character, and not just a Konquest one.
I personally think Kano also has a chance, I mean, in the Bio of him he looks to be sporting a brand new outfit. Why go through the trouble unless he's in the game?
Inviting friends to your game doesn't seem to work so well.
Did I mention the butter-smooth online play? I'm really impressed by that.
Wait wait wait. So there was a chance that Kano wasn't in the game and our own Kano on the Phone still wanted it?Quote:

It's like the buffer for the input counts up until the direction press instead of being slightly around it, the only ones I can do consistantly are the double-taps.
Bonus props for Sub-Zero turning completely into Shredder, now if only Scorpion had a Leonardo outfit.
Yeah, sorry about that, I would send multiple invitations at once, and other people would accept faster. I'll make sure to make you the exclusive invite at some poiint hehe... The game is definitely lag free so far, in every mode and I'm loving it.Quote:

While the opponent is in this "stun," do a spear attack (which does half the damage it normally does). Then perform any combo on the opponent after you've tugged 'em towards you--the combo does about a third to half the damage it normally would after the same spear attack.
So all of the damage scaling is coming off of the fact that you nailed them with a spear after the "stunning" back + triangle move. Here's the problem--while they're in that "stun" after the first punch, they can still block any move that comes at them, making the spear attack afterwards not a combo. There is absolutely no reason for this damage scaling, except that the engine is so terribly designed.
The case MechDeus pointed out--that is also 100% blockable (though the computer didn't block between for some reason), and the damage scaling is 100% unnecessary. A similar example is Scorpions forward + square attack in Mugai Ryu--you can start the damage scaling by "comboing" the move after itself as the opponent touches the ground. The move starts doing zero damage after six hits, though the entire "combo" is completely breakable if the opponent BLOCKS at any point in it. The damage scaling IS COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY and incredibley shitt.
If this stuff wasn't blockable, you'd have a ton of easy infinites you could use to run the time out (since they start doing no damage, you won't kill them). What a crappy fight engine.
We get it, you hate the game, why the fuck do you keep playing it and talking about it?Quote:

Why??
I hated Fable, I talked about it a little on TNL, then I sold it, I still don't play it to keep talking about how I didn't like it or point out all the little flaws.
To me, he expected some kind of deep, tournament level quality fighter, and I think maybe he was the only one to expect that.
Keep in mind youre talking about the guy who's favorite game ever is ZOE2.
Each and every one of his posts has more information on it than any of the positive ones. Unless he's outright lying (which I doubt), then I don't see anything wrong with what he did.
I could have wrote a long post and nice mini review on it, but I honestly didn't think anyone at TNL really cared enough and I didn't feel like donating my time into doing that when only 3 or 4 people would have benefitted.Quote:

Yeah, because we can read full reviews at the gaming site or magazine of our choice. They do not, however, give very specific details about the flaws or intricacies of the engine.Quote:

You're right...every game in a series has to have the exact same flaws in it. Doom 3 must be crappy looking because Doom 1 and 2 were done with the same engine, so by your amazing logic, they all should be.
The fact is that a lot of MR's points are either oversights (unlikely) or things that they would have liked to have fixed given infinite time and resources (very likely). I hope that from now on all sequels will be exactly like their predecessors or I am going to be one miffed dude.
I dont go into In N Out expecting Tavern on the Green, and I wasnt dissapointed because my Mustang wasnt giving me 911-type performance.
I go places expecting something good, something that WORKS in other games. Mortal Kombat has the budget.
Can you tell me what is POSITIVE about this?

Thats very nice. And its clear that Mortal Kombat Deception wont give it to you, because it commits the cardinal sin of playing like other Mortal Kombats (which Im sure you hated as well). So go find a thread that talks about a game that does, and post in there. K Thx?
I cant, but then again, I stopped listening to MarkRyan because he's an inbred retard about... a year and a half ago.Quote:

Wow, so how come you spew your crap in threads about games YOU don't like?
This would be a negative if Mortal Kombat was actually a serious, tournament level fighter. I gurantee most of the sales from this game, and all the people playing on Live, really don't give two shits about all this damage scaling and all the intricies of the game.Quote:

It's not a game for serious fighting game fans, heaven forbid they make a game for people that's just fun to play with your friends. And if something like what you posted ruins the game for you, well, then this obviously isn't your game.
Here's the deal: MK:Deception is a halfway decent fighter with a bunch of really cool ideas and great background interaction that is cool because it's so absolutely ridiculous. It's built like a catch-all fighting game: there's a fetch-quest based adventure mode that plays like an 8-bit Nintendo game with the ability to punch anyone you see, a puzzle game that plays like a really slow version of Puzzle Fighter, an almost chess game with added rules, and a bunch of random stuff to unlock. I'm having a lot of fun with it but only a very small portion of that is due to the fighting engine itself.
It's goofy, it's wacky, it bleeds like a hemorrhaging period, and it lets you knock people through walls and into death traps. If you get easily frustrated with half-assed fighting engines then stay away, otherwise it's great for the gimmick value.
As much as you try to rag on him, you're really no better than he is, so what's the point?Quote:

Its just like the old games, but prettied up with some new features. I cant play Virtua Fighter because I have to spend too much time learning it when all I want to see is blood flying and people getting torn apart. I dont think the game was made for the hardcore fighting game fans that will spend hours learning a fighter inside and out. I guess thats why I can kick the shit outta some people online because most of them are casual fans and cant even block very well. Capcom vs SNK 2 was the exact opposite.
Hardcore fighting games fans should stay far away. But if you just want to have a few laughs with your friends one night, check it out.
CvS2 is a casual fighting game I play with my friends for laughs.
1)the stun never allowed you to follow up in DA either.
2)after i get this tonight, you can be damn sure that me and randerson will fill your freakin guide full of stuff for you
My point isn't to complain that it doesn't combo (because that would make for a million retarded infinites). My complaint is that there's hard-core damage scaling on it, in spite of it not comboing--it's ridiculous, and is just one of the stupid flaws of the game.Quote:

I beat Liu Kang and all I got was a lousy 300 Jade coins? Screw you, Midway! Although I guess I shouldn't complain too much since he was easy once I figured out a good pattern to trick him into, but that healing-so-fast-most-combos-break-even-at-best crap is garbage. I really hate the gimmick fights in this.
Still can't find any of Shunjinku's (whatever) moves. Quite annoying.
The three guardians can kiss my ass. I don't know whose idea of fun it was to make opponents that could either deal 3-hit 125% damage combos or had you bleeding so fast that a single hit means retry while being unable to block in either, but they can go to hell. Glad that piece of frustration is over, although I absolutely can't wait to encounter the supposed upcoming dark and bleeding match. Jesus.
Anyway, does anyone have any help for the 10 and 12-hit combos needed for a couple challenges? I've been worrying more about damage than hit count this whole time (thanks to the damage scaling) so I have no clue how to get up that high.
Found a couple Shujinku moves and a fatality (didn't realize they weren't accessible until after beating it) and I only have three people on the select screen left to unlock. I've got a feeling cleaning up the rest is going to be a real pain in the ass, but it can wait for tomorrow.
10-hit with Sub-Zero:
A1, A2, A4, ST, A1, A2 < juggle > A1, A2, ST
Or does it need to be with Shinjuko / Bo' Rai Cho?
Nice, thanks a lot!No, anyone will do. I'm at the point where ol' retard is randomly selecting characters so it's only a matter of wasting time constantly reloading the match until I get who I want.Quote:

Holy fuck, I just found out you can use combo breakers to interrupt throws.
The computer's been doing that to me almost since I started playing, you can also use them to interrupt attacks while in the air (I haven't tried it yet but the computer has done it to me multiple times).Quote:

Moral of the story? If you don't want to get hit in MK: Deception, just hold block and start tapping forward rapidly.
There's a reason you only get 3 (or is it the max number of rounds?) per match.
I wish you could bait breaks, though. Nothing makes me warm and fuzzy like getting someone to reset a combo in GGXX via bursting, but it seems like they have a 100% success rate.
Breaking throws seems like a waste of resources though, since they only do about 15-20% damage. Typical juggle combos do more damage than that.
-Dippy
It's pretty shitty that you can break combos on the first attack, so once you got someone ready to go down, you just let them attack you and break for the win.
Hotaru has a 35% throw combo that's pathetically easy and many other characters have 27% or so throw combos.Quote:

Uhh... so I did Kenshi's 9-hit combo (that's what the combo counter said) on Sub-Zero's 10-hit challenge and it counted. Not that I'm complaining because I'm glad to have that done and it gives me hope that the 12-hit will also not be able to count right, but still. Wierd.
[edit] Whee! More glitches! In Edenia I now have Jade standing in both her original location waiting for me to bring Rain to her and at the entrance to their hideaway gloating over Rain's body at the same time. Add that to the list along with floating defeated bodies.
The breaker does very little damage.
Anyone have any hints for beat the Scorpion that deals 300% damage, cheats, and heals? Using Sindel I can occasionally get him down to 1/3 of a bar and then he'll suddenly bust out with his 78% spear combo or something and kill me.
P.S. Havik's throw juggle actually deals up to 32%, I wasn't doing the final hit of the combo earlier.
Finally beat that damn Scorpion a while ago, and with a flawless amazingly enough. I think he must've just given up.
All the (known) characters are unlocked and the krypt is almost empty, all I need now is a good source of gold and onyx koins to polish that off. Feels good to be coming up on a totally completed unlocking session, these mission-based fighting game segments take so much out of me. I think I might also do a little actual practice with a character tomorrow.
For those of you who sent me invites: Sorry, but one of my roommates was torrenting so my ping was too terrible for me to play. I tried once but was dropped within a couple seconds, but I'll probably be on tomorrow night with Mr. Kicky-Fast.
:( So sad. Ever since this game came out, all anyone does is play it.
And by anyone I mean Mech.
And by sad I mean jealous.
And by jealous I mean lonely.
And by lonely I mean tired.
And by tired I mean...time to sleep.
Mech, I need details on how to get Kicky Fast, and my advice for the dudes that heal is to use Baraka or Hotaru and stay in their weapon stances, but I guess you don't need that advice anymore.
In Edenia, after you've beaten Konquest Mode, go behind the tent in the lower-right corner that used to house Jade (or in my glitchy case, still does) and meditate until 12 AM Friday night (late Thursday morning). No one seems to have found his (or Shujinko's) alternate outfit yet, though.
More fun glitches: While fighting crazy-ass Scorpion many of my 2/3-hit combos would register their hit and damage counters on his side of the screen. Once I left the game running at the continue screen (same fight) because I went to go watch some TV, and when I flipped back Scorpion was completely gone (this might not be a glitch, but I have no clue where he went). I've also run into people walking around a few feet in the air in Edenia.
thank you.
A1, A1, u+A2... A1, A1, u+A2 = 6 hit 37%, yet A1, A1, A3, shift, A1, u+A2... d, f+A3 = 14-hit 28% :lol:Now it's doing this in practice mode as well. I wonder why.Quote:

I'll admit, I used a FAQ for the rest of the krypt, but cmon, like I'd really figure out to go behind a tent at 12-1 am on a Tuesday, with no clues whatsoever.
And how come Goro and Kintaro aren't in Konquest? I mean, even Meat is in it =/ And Sheeva is only seen face down in some cabin in Netherrealm for some reason.
Yeah, there's a definate chance of there being a super-unlockable that's available for one hour one day a year or something totally crazy like that. Or at least, the chance of there being that will drive people nuts.
Last night I was ranked 21 in the world at regular Kombat and 22 in the world at Chess Kombat.
I suck at Puzzle Kombat though.
(Thanks Tobal :) )
haha, I should start charging people to up their rank since I suck so much :)Quote:

I need to do some work to see how well these work but apparently Jade has a 41% (I can only get it up to 30-some% because I don't have the combination memorized yet) and Liu Kang has a 49% on top of the 41% he already had (but I'm not sure how to do the latter since I've only had it done to me once). I'm a bit wary on the 49%, though, because it doesn't seem like the timing for stance changing allows it to be possible, although it could be just that that combo has far and away the strictest timing I've seen/found yet and I just haven't done it right. Gotten a crapload of 37-38% combos with him but have yet to break 40% with anyone. That'll probably be my goal for the night.
With a pathetically easy to do 37%, a high and low fireball, and at least a 41% if not also a 49%, is there really any reason to use anyone else? Some of the special moves for other characters are pretty good but it's looking to me like Liu Kang is the SCII Cervantes to Defiance. Well, maybe Shujinko since once his move list starts getting complete it gets absolutely sickening (Sub-Zero's freeze shot, Scorpion's spear, Raiden's superman, Li Mei's flip kick, Sindel's foot grab), he's got something for every occasion....Quote:

It's just timing...nothing to really help. Just make sure you hit them all in order. I find that (for longer combos anyway) when you finish the button presses, the animation is still going. Just tap through them at a good pace. Don't know what else to say. Oh, writing in full sentences would help a lot. Not in the game, but just here so it's easy to understanding what you're talking about.

It's really up to you if a perfect gameplay version is worth the extra 10 bucks, even with it's flaws. The other bonuses are a shitload of MK "trading card", which have info and a 3d model on the character (out of 25), and a short video of someone involved with that character giving some behind the scenes info on it.
Also get a history of MK, it's a nice little video.
Plus the special cover and all that jazz.

VERY disapointing considering that I know they have a ton of material, at the very least on MK3 (I rented a Making of MK3 video from Blockbuster back in the day).
Oh, and just to be fair, I've been touting the game as completely free of lag, but on Saturday I got into a little spot of lag. Nothing big, but I didn't want anyone to think I was a fanboy.
PS. I am a fanboy
If you like this game, you are a fanboy. It's okay.Quote:

But since I don't it works just fine and is a nice time when I just feel like beating on people (since I went online once and ended up with a score of something like 28-1, my only loss coming from screwing around).
