Wtf? They are playing this?

Have you ever been some place playing music for example a clothing store, restaurant, gym and they catch you off guard with a song....that didn't quite fit.

Heres some examples I've heard.

The other day at the gym I was working out. All of a sudden I hear it.... The theme song from Final Fantasy X-2 started playing. You know the track thats on the commercial the J-pop song.

Another time I was at the mall and was walking by American Eagle and they were playing a Roykosopp remix of Kings of Convience....my jaw hit the floor at that one. Its a remix of a little known folk group.

So anyone else been caught off guard by places doing stuff like this?

Sometimes I hear Crazy Train by Ozzy and Enter Sandman by Metallica on the radio at work.

I work at Wal-Mart.

I heard a Postal Service song at Borders once. Made me happy.

They play crazy train CONSTANTLY at braves games. My parents are braves freaks so I have to hear it play all the damn time during baseball season. Now when I hear the opening to crazy train....I cringe in horror.

Um... "Gangsta's Paradise" in an operation theatre.

I cringed when the lyric "As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death..." was sung... poor patient... not the best song to be played while you're having serious surgery.

Oh... and there was a mix CD in one of the hospita's I worked at, and the first track was that theme from Pulp Fiction. It starts with a sound bite of "If any of you fucking pricks move, and I'll execute every mother-fucking last one of you!". We had to remember to skip that when ever the CD changer got to that CD, but we forgot quite a lot :)

Some woman at a book store at the mall last Christmas time was listening to Aphex Twin. That's all I can think of offhand.

I've heard the Cocteau Twins playing at the local grocery store. I about fell over.

This is more my doing, but I'm sure at least someone was suprised to hear my stores Xbox playing Finntroll loudly in the BG of Amped 2.

Oh yeah, I heard the Bright Eyes version of "Blue Christmas" in Best Buy once. Strange thing was they didn't even have the Bright Eyes Christmas album there.
