Mcdonald's instant prize giveaway.

I just got back from the place not too long ago and found this paper in the bag that says anyone could just be picked out at random for a $1,000,000. cash prize and it's going to at least 15 people.

When I looked down, I got a note that reads as this.

Yeah, when they had one of the monopoly games abuncha people at the plant were they made the cups and stuff stole all the good peices, making it practically impossible to win.

So they're doing this to make up for it all then?

More or less, I'd heard about this a while ago, but thought it never came to pass.

I'm addicted to Whoppers. But they stink so badly like onions and beef, which transfers to you after you eat them.

I swear I've totalled bout an hour total waiting for my damn mcchicken last week.

pshhh... one of the McDonalds near my way has this lunchtime service bullshit where you get your order no later than 10-15 minutes after it's been placed. including the wait time, i waited a good 45 minutes before i got anything, as did a whole mess of people waiting. i don't know if they're still doing that shit since i haven't been there in over a year.

McDonald's Monopoly is a brilliant cross promotional marketing campaign that not only successfully promotes the McDonald's brand name, but Monopoly as well (not to mention the manufacturer of the prizes). When they first started doing it years ago I can remember trying to collect as many peices as possible, it was a lot of fun, and it made me want to come back to the restaurant (as well as others in far away areas (I wanted to increase my chances of getting a good peice) ) to get more peices. Which is exactly what the contest is intended to do.

And as for your last comment, that is just ignorance. Why does any one need to advertise at all? Microsoft may be #1, but they still make tv and print ads for windows all the time. Why? To remind the consumer that they still exist, yes, even if a company is #1 they still have to remind people that they are still around and they use advertising to keep them freshly implanted in the consumer's mind, this reinforces their brand image, and can help sway the consumer to take their busniess to them instead of some one else. But it's not enough to simply tell people you exist, you have to give them a reason to go into your place of business instead of your competitor's, which is why they do these kind of things in the first place. And as I said before, McDonald's Monopoly is extremely effective.
