Despite some pacing inconsistencies a little later on, it only gets better and I'd have to say you're totally right.

By Chapter 10+ you're getting positively lethal, and all the new weapons and techniques you have compound the fact.

Shinobi III is way, way up there. Original Tenchu is way, way up there. Still, this Ninja Gaiden allows you to pull of 50+ hit combos with razor sharp flails, leap off of one enemy's shoulders (with shadow trailers) only to decapitate the next in line, and generally wreak non-stop bloody mayhem, all with copious amounts of wall running. Hmmm, maybe it is the best.

I don't know about best Ninja game ever, but I have a vote for the best ninja/bionic commando game ever:

Tenchu is the best ninja game of all time. Ninja Gaiden is an awesome action game, but its not even the best game with ninjas in it. That being Tenchu.
