Yes.
Yes.
Yes. I like the series but its given more credit and admiration than anything could seriously deserve.
yes, mostly.
I find I hate the more modern FF's, but as these have sold greatly and opened the market up a little for other RPG's to come out, I can't complain.
Keep on making them Square. I won't buy them, but millions of others will, and maybe someone else will bring me another Disgaea.
Be a team player and just say "yes". The thread would have looked better that way.Quote:

I guess if you're a game player that only buys 2 or 3 games a year, that all those side quests make the game worthy of every cent paid, but for people who have so much time to invest in a game, it's more of a chore than an appreciated extra.
i voted no.
but i'd like to see them do something a little different. I wasn't particularly thrilled with what we've seen of FF12 yet - i'd like to see something like FF6 (wheel out Mechs or something a bit more leftfield).
FF11 was fantastic up to a point - then it's too party focused IMO.
they look purty but it just doesn't fancy me enough to finish one of them. so yes.
i voted no because you didn't give me the option:
yes. STFU fag. and I really wanted to call you that.
Yes.
That said...
All the cinema elements in FF7 are a direct continuation of what square was doing in FF6. Stuff like the mode7 airship parts, the world of ruin sequence, and non-interactive character sequences (hell, the whole damn opera scene). Its was the natural progression of the genre in a storytelling sense.Quote:

And who cares if FF is overrated? Hasn't this argument been had a million times before on a million message boards?
But if you ask me they need to make it more like KOTOR.
Final Fantasy is very much overrated among gamers in general so I voted yes but at TNL there are plenty of non-fans so I don't think it's overrated here. It's still a great series overall and I think it has a certain consistent charm to it.
Yeah, the servies is overated.
I was a big fan of Square's SNES and PS works, but the FF series wasn't a huge reason why.
I only have 3 FF games(FF8, X and Tactics) but they were all good to excellent quality.
The series as a whole is overrated but that's not a surprising thing to say.
Nope. It's just not good.
yes , the only thing i like about the series is the CG cutscenes
Really? I don't remember anything close to 20 minutes long in FF6.Quote:

Yes but I like them.
I'd say that it isn't. The games people praise deserve it and since no one gives the not so good ones great praise I would say it isn't given special treatment. When you have to call the series either good or bad, I would say it's good.
I said yes.
I finally got to play the "god send" that was suppose to be FF3 (6 for those who got the PSX disk) a year or two ago. I will admit that there were nice parts in the game, but it did not live up to the hype that I had been hearing about it for years.
Story development was sub par, some of the towns and maps were bland, and kefka blew, both physically and figuratively. I never even got around to finishing the game after kefka became a God because I just didn't care anymore. I'll probably get around to beating it some day, but I'm disappointed that it didn't deliver the orgasms of delight that fanboys have been talking about for years now.
For the most part, I'd dare say Lunar 1 & 2 and Phantasy Star 4 were better games. Both had a lot better game flow, game design, story development, character development, and all around did the personal aspect of RPGs better. The only thing I would give FF3 over lunar was it's magic system. FF3 was great in that it gave you lots of fun options to play with where lunar 1 was beyond basic in its magic system.
Yes, Tidus has AIDs.
FF3 managed a large cast of characters very well (many of which had some nice development) and had a great story in the first half, still pretty decent in the second half. Also, if you played it after all those other games, including later FF titles, its impact was probably diminished somewhat.
I played some of 10, didn't get far enough to where its good, don't care to, thats the end of final fantasy for me. I will admit, I am an oldschool FF fan, but, for the sake of not being every other board on the planet, i won't turn this into a large argument. I will only say that, i thought kefka was an excellent enemy, you actually thought he was being evil, just to be evil. No seroius motivation, this guy was just flat out evil. I think that made the last confrontation something awesome.
It's not just overrated. It is the king of the overrated hill. The only thing about it that is not overrated is its overratedness.
[Japanophile]That's Final Fantasy VI you white devil gaijin![/Japanophile]Quote:

I liked FFIX though....
"World only have two things: things you can eat, and things you no can eat."
Classic.
I voted no.
I think the series is still great.
People bitch when stuff is too different (OMGS FFX-2!?) and people bitch when stuff isn't different enough (OMGS FFIX!?).
I think a lot of peoples judgements are really clouded by nostalgia, and the fact that we get older we're trying to reclaim the same magic that we experienced playing a game when we were kids.
My .0002 of course.
Yes
I used to think that I was a big fan of the Final Fantasy series, but when I think about it I only bothered to finish 4,6, and 10. For some reason I still do get caught up on the hype when a new Final Fantasy game is announced and buy it on release.
I was a bookworm way back in 97, so I never really opened FF7 until ....last year?
