Is Litestep stable these days? I think I tried it like six years ago -- prolly still on Windows '98 -- and it caused all sorts of headaches. If you tell me things are glowy now, I'll give it another whirl.

I ran it on XP for a long time and never had any issues. Eventually something totally unrelated (can't recall what) came up and I had to reformat and then just never got around to putting LiteStep back on. I've found the occasional theme that doesn't work and crashes out but that's it, nothing with LS itself.
[edit] Actually, I seem to recall something didn't work at one point. I don't remember what it was, maybe a game, but it wasn't anything I really cared about.
Source pic pls.
Window Blinds > Litestep.
Last time I checked Windows Blinds is on top of Explorer instead of replacing it so it's needlessly using extra resources, and doesn't have anywhere near the flexibility in design and program integration. Same goes for WinStep, and both of those you either have to pay for or pirate while LS is free.
And for Razor:
Window Blinds does take up resources, but it's so minimal you really shouldn't notice if your computer isn't from 1998. My experience is that Litestep tends to be very unstable, and the integration as far as adding and switching skins and customizing the design of skins isn't nearly as usable as Window Blinds. I much rather prefer having Window Blinds use some resources and be able to use a Windows style menu to switch and navigate between everything + Photoshop to edit skins then what Litestep offers.
It all comes down to a matter of opinion though.
Adding and switching skins is a matter of picking them from the main menu so I don't know what you're talking about there, but LS is harder to edit yourself. And while the resources Blinds takes up is comparitively minimal it ends up being one more thing that makes my PC hang after playing a technically intensive, game, editing a bunch of large images, rendering videos, things like that.
Personally my big thing for LS is the program integration; I like having drives, media player controls, and all that sort of thing built right into the taskbar so that I have the maximum amount of space on screen and don't have to go digging for basic things. But I'm one of those people where if a PC is going to be primarily used by me I need to edit the browser taskbar to be as small as possible and have no desktop icons, I become anal about that sort of thing.
I feel that, I'm the same way. To get around that I run Object Dock with Window Blinds so that I have a tiny menu on top. While it's not nearly as customizable as the menus created using Litestep, it gets the job done. I just wish I could get rid of that fucking Recycling Bin icon.
Isn't Windowblinds just like StyleXP or something? Or is it more than just alternative themes to Luna?
I think TweakXP lets you remove the Recycling Bin icon. [Edit]: Maybe you mean the icon in one of these customized desktop programs. Don't know about that.
