China is on my bocott list.
This changes nothing for me.
whats a bocott?
Um, that quote doesn't mean they have freedom of speech. Just that they have to treat each other humanely.
Democracy and communism essentially is the same thing IF the government has too much power. Elections can be rigged, media can be exploited and threatened. Politicians always lie to get what they want. The only difference is that in communism the dictator is very open about how much of a bastard he is.
I'm happy the Chinese government finally realized they were never really Communists, more like totalitarian murderers who happened to wear a lot of red. I take it now they see that by making their peasantry wage-slaves as opposed to idealogocial slaves they don't have to be nearly as repressive socially and can focus and being moreso economically.
I'm sure as foreign money comes pouring in by the bucketfull (as foreign money is want to do whenever China gets a hankering for a little time away from their on-again, off-again policy of isolationism) the ruling party will start pushing to get rid of those pesky ideological moneypits like free health care and public education. Never did Cuba any good, did it?
If china goes as far to kill its own people when they undoubtedly try to express their desire for a change in government, the US will step in, and perhaps other nations as well. The free world has way to much invested in china as a source of production to allow any serious unrest in that area of the world.Quote:

I know I wouldn't want to be the one to pick sides. From one perspective, China has one of the biggest armies in the world. Also from a greedy inhuman perspective, the US gains a lot from the cheep labor it gets from China. We could lose a lot, both in lives lost in combat, and financially if we actually had to start paying a "human" amount for the labor we get from them. It should also be noted, if China became a "free" nation, the US would no longer be the most powerful free nation in the world.
Lets be honest with our selves about this, oriental people being hard workers and having good business sense is not a stereotype, it is a statistical fact. You add that to china’s huge amount of resources, human and/or other wise, you get a nation that could kick the shit out of the good ole US of A's lazy ass.
On the other hand, if we supported the people themselves, the world would have a lot to gain. Obviously supporting the Chinese people and their effort to be free is the morally right thing to do. All people deserve to be free. Plus there is no telling what their free economy could do. Think of all the positive things that capitalistic nations bring to the world, scientific inventions, cures for diseases, foreign aid, etc. If they became free as a nation said things would double, if not triple.
It's going to be a hard decision. I hope our nation never has to make it.
Even with all of China's people, as it stands now they would get their asses horribly kicked in a war with us, and I think it'll be that way for some time. They don't have the tank technology and considering we can match most of their air force with a single carrier group shows how lacking their air force is. Mass amounts of people doesn't mean what it did fifty years ago, lots of tanks and planes helps but technology can make a HUGE differance and considering China is still using Soviet-Era equipment they're a little bit behind the loop.
It makes me sad how far off base you are.Quote:
