For the time being, omfgctf.com is running UT2004 Onslaught, CTF and other stuff. It's listed under !!!! omfgctf.com in the server browser. You can also point UT to 209.223.48.18. It can handle 16 players with no lag.

anyone been having a problem getting on Lhadatt's server all day for me its told me Unknown Server ?? for the ping and i cant seem to connect to it

Yeah, great games guys... I wish more of ya could have stuck around for Robot Factory though... that level really isn't much fun without at least 8-10 people.

And I DO have a mic, I'll try to hook it up right if we play again tonight. Having mics really did make the games a lot more fun imo, even though I didn't have one (though I did my part in supplying the ice-breaking penis jokes ;)).
Well I gave in and ordered the CD version from EB (couldn't pass up the 20 dollar rebate)...
I guess I'll have to grab a mic and embarass myself in front of my roommates...

I bought that GeForce 5200 today. $65 all in all. Yea its pretty much the cheapest card you can buy now, but its way better than my 32meg first-generation Radeon. I should be able to increase the resolution and some detail settings now.
I was gonna buy a bag of pot for Spring Break, but Ill got the video card instead.

Is the server running during the daytime? I never see it in the browser...
Go to the Buddies tab and right-click the Server Name tab. That'll let you enter a favouite manually.
Edit: favouite being, of course, French for "I'm a fucktard."
It changes gametypes. It's best to add it to your favorites manually using the IP 209.223.48.18. Epic really needs to add an "All" list type, but this is the third game in the series and they have yet to do it...Quote:

The server may not be visible in the browser, I'm having problems with that at the moment. Probably something about the cdkey, and Epic's server cdkey form is fubar'd. Just go to the IP in my sig, that will get you in.
Server is up. It should be listed in the master list. Right now it's on Onslaught, going to work on the map rotation later. Let me know if it works, what pings you're seeing, etc.

If you care to play with my merry band of miscreants, you can frequently find us on our server at 146.145.80.46 in the evenings. Map voting is enabled, make sure you select the gametype. Our TDM rules are TWL legal (mostly, not everything can be set properly before a match is ready), so weapons do not stay in tdm, there's no spawn invuln, forced spawning is on, and superweapons are off. ONS and DM are standard. 8 players max, we tend to like smaller games, though we bump it to 12 for ONS.

Ditto... though, it was good to be playing with people roughly around my skill level for once. Getting eviscerated by UT vets gets old quickly.
I just get frustrated with DM... I get lost in the maps, and I suck at dodging... I prefer the objective based games... I'm good at those.

The key to populating a server is playing on it. Stay on it for a bit -- go away while logged in, do something else -- pretty soon a 2nd player will login. Keep playing, and more people will join up. It does help to pass the time if you have more than one person "seed" the server at first, so grab your buddies and login at the same time. Pretty soon it will have a nice crowd.
The server currently has a Blood Gulch map up. It's Vehicle CTF. It looks like it's a bit early in the design phase, so don't be too critical of it. I'm going to edit it later to see if I can make the light a bit better -- it's too bright at the moment. I may also try to stretch the map a bit, since it's too compressed for Blood Gulch. Anyway, play it, tell me what you think.

Yea I connected to the server, alt-tabbed, came back five minutes later and said... damn that building looks just like the Blood Gulch base... wait a minute! That was pretty sweet.

I fixed Blood Gulch. Now it's not as blinding and it's closer to the size of the original. UnrealEd be praised. :) Download it from the server. Also download Smacktard Raceway - fun pointless toilet-mobile racing course. Unzip both of these into \UT2004\Maps.

About Blood Gulch..
This is seriously my dream map, just not in this stage of development. From the second I played the UT2004 demo, the first thing I said was "We need to get some Blood Gulch in this game" and now it is so, but with some problems. While stretching it out is a step in the right direction, I don't think it's wide enough. Maybe it's just the speed of Unreal but it just dosen't feel wide enough at all, too constrcting. Also, there are certain sides of the hills that are impossible to climb up for they are too steep. Sloping these out a bit would make a world of difference when it comes to running backwards with the flag. Speaking of hills, they aren't green enough. The Blood Gulch of Halo is full of life with it's pleasant green hills. The Unreal version of Blood Gulch is drab and dead looking. A simple texture reselection can fix that. The caves are a big issue you as well. Parts are too narrow and the exit of the cave for the blue base is far too low. It needs a good drop off to it.
The biggest gripe? Raptor placement. In fact, the bases themselves need to be reworked a little. The bases should be made in a way that the Raptor can not fit in them. I don't know how many times I couldn't grab the flag because a raptor fell in it's way. I realize that vehicles are unlocked for this map but when you hop in a raptor you already become a target, especially in the opposing teams base, but then when you can't even get out of it because theres not enough room, it becomes a major problem. If the hole in the top of the bases could be made to fit humans, but not raptors that would be awesome. Also, inside of the base where the flag lays it's extremely easy to get snagged on some of the beams in the center area, which didn't happen in Halo.
Things that I like? The extra flora to the map gives it a great feel, and it's easier to confuse opponents while fighting out in the open. Weapon replacements are a great nod to Halo. The rocket launcher in the middle of the map, the flak cannon in the base for the shotgun, it's all great. But why a shock rifle in place of the pistol up top when you can just give the people a sniper rifle? Eh, I guess I'm just picky.
I know I sound really harsh on this map and I know that you didn't make it Lhadatt, I'm just saying these as if I were posting to the guy who made the map himself. I would love to see this map become the godlike creation that the actual Blood Gulch is, since in terms of maps it's up there with classics such as 2Fort and de_dust. It just needs a little lovin'.
I agree with pretty much all of that. I'm waiting for the author of the map to finish it before I do much else to this map. Unfortunately, my UnrealEd skills are not good at this point, so I do not know how to do things like terrain editing. At the moment, I'd say it could be rated 7/10 -- very good, as it is Gulch, but it's still a C student.
I need Vehicle CTF maps. Provide linkage here or on AIM, please.
I'm gonna hop on omgctf now and idle until someone shows up or I lose interest, whichever happens first.

Just so you know, there is an XP only Onslaught map pack you can download. It has Ariidoom and Ascendancy in it. Both seem to be damn good levels, especially Ascendancy. Definatly a lot better than Icarus's "who can fly their leviathan in faster" gameplay.

I've d/l a few maps now (including Icarus) but can't for the life of me figure out where to put the maps (.ut2). I know in the PC version you add to ut2k4/maps/ but for the Mac it's totally different :( I'll keep trying.

It wasn't entirely the camping that got me. It was the fact that three obviously extremely good players decided to mercilessly kick the shit out of two not very good players, including camping the not so good players' own base. I didn't mind losing at deathmatch because it was a free for all. That last CTF game was just an insult, however.Quote:

Right, so -- what's the deal with stat recording? Seemed to be working intially, then it disappeared off all the servers, even official ones. Setting filters to stat only returns zero results. Am I the only one experiencing this?
It may have something to do with the broken stats engine on unrealtournament.com. Dr. Sin (one of the devs) has said it will be offline until further notice.
