Nice - I just read somewhere that Mel Gibson is considering making a movie based on the Maccabees (the Hannukah story), where a small group of Jews beat the hell out of like a million Syrians so we could keep some lamp lit. It was miraculous.
Gibson could make an awesome movie out of it.
He talked about it on the Sean Hannity show, but it was more of a "if" he made another biblical movie as opposed to "when".
Gibson likes to make movies where Jews hurt stuff, eh?

I heard this as well. I'd really like for Mel to continue making his movies. The Passion was incredible, and it's on the way to topping out all box office records. The man spent what, $26 million to make the film and it's grossed over $270 million so far? And he hasn't even released it internationally yet!
Maccabees is, actually, one of my favorite apocriphal books. I really hope Mel decides to do it.
I don't know what it is, since I'm not religious, but I still bristle at the idea of someone who believes in Jesus thinking of himself as a Jew. I don't know why, it doesn't make sense. I think most Jews who aren't for Jesus would agree.
You are correct. Most Jews who aren't for Jesus would agree. I've encountered quite a few of them.
However, the Torah states that simply being of Abraham isn't good enough, and that everyone who is of Abraham's blood line isn't necessarily Jewish (see Jacob and Esau). You must be of God in order to be Jewish, and I am certainly of God.
Sataro used to have a problem with me saying I was Jewish as well. Acording to Jewish law, you are a full blooded Jew if your mother is a Jewess, and mine is. Therefore, I'm a Jew. A relegious Jew even. I just so happen to believe in Jesus Christ. ;)

If he has to make another religious movie, I hope that he keeps with the largely historically accurate ultra-violence. At the very least, maybe it will bring to heel the snapping conservative pitbulls that denounce any movie above PG-13 as criminally obscene. Although, I doubt it. Hypocrisy seems to fit those people like a tailored glove.
