The Taxation Thread

I just finished doing my taxes like 10 minute ago. I have been filing federal and state taxes electronically since 2000 (I started actually earning taxable income in 1998) and I haven't looked back to paper and pen. I use Turbo Tax and I'm pretty happy with them. It's all pretty simple. This year because of unregulated freelance work i do I owe money so no Steel Battalion for me. Anyone else here file electronically? Anyone NOT pay their taxes or have any taxation woes? April 15th is creeping up on us very fast...

Ever since my Dad got Quicken we've been using that to file taxes. Plus with the tuition deduction I should be pretty set for a tidy return this year.

I filed my taxes for my first time this year...before, I always just tossed mine in with my parent's, which they gave to an accountant. So, this year, I did them for free off H&R Block's site, ended up getting all of my money back (since I made so little), and about $300 more than I would have on my own. Regardless, it was really easy and probably took about an hour. Money got direct-deposited to my bank account and I'll probably do it again that way next year barring any major change in my finances.

Taxes suck. We had to file bankruptcy this year.

Ouch. I made like 200 bucks last year, so there's really nothing for me to file this year. Next year should be interesting.

My mom does taxes for the whole family. I'm only getting $188 this year...That sucks.

Due to various factors, I ended up with a fat refund this year. Never anything I plan for (I prefer to pay than get a refund), but I'll admit it's nice right now. It was just deposited in my account today. I got like $500 just for being a student, nice.

I used TaxCut, which is H&R Block's competitor to Turbo Tax. It worked just fine.

When I used to work my mom just put them in with hers. I'm going to have to do my own next year though, shouldn't be too bad as I'll only be earning around $13,000 a year.

My wife's grandfather owns his own accounting firm. Not only do we get wonderful Christmas gifts from him, but he does our taxes for free.

If I ever find myself in a possition where I cannot have him do my taxes, I will hire a CPA to do them. I don't mess around with this shiznoze.

Went on unemployment for over half a year and thought I would have owed.

Turns out I got $900 back.

I'm gonna be planning on that as well, I've got quite a bit I owe on the medical bills and the car I just turned in last november.
