Haha, you don't say? I mean, how does he get the robot to transform. It doesn't transform by itself, obviously.

then transform it a little again, then take another picture.
repeat until the thing's fully transformed and then put the pics in an animating program, and voila.

Yup. That's it. I open a door half an inch, take a picture, open it half an inch further, take a picture, etc. In other words, it is a series of still pictures taken with a normal camera, not video taken by a video camera. The drawback is that every single pose has to be able to balance on its own since my hands are not holding it up. Here's two more.
