I'd say Back To Nature for ps1, but someone here told me that Friends of Mineral Town is a suped up version of that game so that'd be the one! Of course, if you don't have a gameboy player, you're going to be spending a LOT of hours squinting as these games last forever... I'd get a gameboy player to play it. And since it's a cartridge game unlike Back To Nature, there shouldn't be any loading of areas that some people complain about.Quote:

And finding the berries is a game in itself.
So there ya go.
**edit** Did anyone play the N64 one? My son said his friend told him it was the same as Back to Nature, but the perspective is different and the town looks like it's laid out different, so I dunno... I wanna pick it up.
I have the PS2 and PSOne versions, but I've only played them for like 10 minutes combined, and I haven't played the N64 or SNES versions, which are arguably supposed to be the best. I don't know, I guess Harvest Moon just doesn't feel right to me unless I'm playing on a GB :p That said, the GBA version is quite good, it's basically the same game that all of the HMs are (you're given a farm; you farm!), just with more stuff you can do. To be honest, after a while that became the downfall of the game to me, I just got bored of it because of the overwhelming amount of stuff to do in the game, but if you're looking for something to keep you busy and waste a lot of time with, it should certainly serve it's purpose well.

As a player of the SNES, N64, PS1, PS2, GBC, GBA, and Gamecube version, I heartily recommend the Game Boy Advance version (Friends of Mineral Town). Oddly though, the N64 version had the most charm (the personalities of most of the characters changed for later versions).
Ps1, GC or GBA version... those are the three best...
Just avoid the PS2 game. I borrowed it from a friend a few weeks ago and am amazed at just how "bleh" it is. I also found time to pass by too quickly, giving you too little time to do all the things you want to do in a game of this type.
I finally found a copy of the PS1 game and am loving it so far. It SHITS all over Save the Homeland in so many ways. Cuter graphics, more animals (sheep!), the tools; everything is ace. The GBA rev is easier to find but either one rocks.
MY girlfriend loves this series. She just got the new GC one (It's a Wonderful Life), and while she enjoys it a lot, she thinks the PS2 (Back to Nature) one was better, because it has festivals and stores, which for some reason were taken out for the GC game. Personally, I think it's a very cool series, but it's not really my thing. I get more enjoyment sitting and watching her play and get all excited when her tomatos are ready to be picked and shit.
Of course, she has the typical girl complaints, like about having to play as a guy and trying to get a wife instead of having the option to be a girl and try to find a husband. And she's also annoyed that in the GC version you can only have a son, not a daughter.
That's a euphemism for getting it on, right? ;)Quote:

It's probably the best in the series because of this. I haven't played FOMT, but Back To Nature is my favorite and I'm wanting to get FOMT because of it.Quote:

Sadly, the protagonist was the progeny of a man and his Klinefelter wife. Consequentially, his parents gave him a YY instead of an XY for the 23rd chromosome pair. This unusual karyotype also is the reason behind the big head, small body phenotype and his psychopathological desire to be close friends with farm animals. [/high brow humor]Quote:

2) Track down FOTM because it has connectivity with the GC version, giving you more music and other good stuff :)
Thanks for the heads up. Guess I'll see if EB still has copies. They've had copies every time I've been in there, I just haven't bought yet. Best Buy, on the other hand, has NEVER had copies! What's up with that?Quote:

I probably had the most fun with the SNES one but the N64 is virtually the same with a few additions. I'd probably go with the N64 version.
I have the 3rd Gameboy Color one, the Ps1, N64, and PS2 version.
Out of those, I liked the PS1 version the best.
I didn't play much of the N64 version because as you walked around, the fields would pop up in front of you. I found that very annoying.
 Holy shit, going back and re-reading that makes me realize how dirty that sounds...Quote:

There are festivals in the Gamecube version- I've seen a Harvest Gathering, the Starlight Festival, and a New Year's Festival so far. I'm sure I've missed a few too just by not being in the right place when it happens.

Ok, Back to Nature is pwning me seriously.
It's mid fall and my farm is 25% complete. I have 2 cows (one is pregnant), a sheep, 10 chickens, and the pony. My chicken coop and house have been extended and I should have the barn done before winter sets in. I have upgraded all my items to the bronze level (save for the axe, which is silver), I have the 8-slot rucksack, as well as the crop bin. I'm trying now to get utensils for cooking, as Ann from the inn is pretty interested in me (blue heart!). I keep giving her spa-baked eggs every morning.
All I need to do is get 500 lumber for the barn extension and I'll be set for winter. No crops means milk and wool will be my only sources of income. I guess I'll have to buy another sheep and use the potion on the 1st one once it's full grown.
My wife likes the game but finds it a bit complicated after Animal Crossing. I told her that once the fairies start helping, the game's a breeze. Flowers seem to keep them happy but I'm in a bind for winter. What should I give them?
Awesome, awesome freakin' game.
I'm enjoying FoMT too, and it was hard to find for awhile (was finally able to track a non-gutted one down at a Gamestop after about a week). But recently I was at the local Fry's, which had been sold out of the game, and they had since restocked it and had several copies in stock. Natsume may have already done that second print run on the game, which is good. One of the best GBA games out there, and that's saying something! :)
