Oh yeah wait let's do some MLB discussion. There's nothing to talk aobut in game 7 except the Yankees' dismal bats and our complete lack of a fourth decent starting pitcher.
Except maybe Damon pulling the individual comeback of the year.
But I dunno, as much as I like Torre and the entire Yankee coaching staff, I think they mismanaged a helluva lot 4-6. Or undermanaged is more like it. Slow to adapt, slow to try new things. Last night every player took the first pitch almost every time, and every time it was a goddamn strike. Don't you need to change your strategy up a little? Don't you need to play with a little desperation? Don't you need to stop relying on Flash "I give up crucial runs for a living" Gordon?
We didn't play with any desperation and the momentum was pushed against us bit by bit from Game 4 on. the guys on our team didn't want it hard enough to fight that momentum shift. It was fucking pathetic.
Anyone else think Rivera is either: Past his prime, or has been seen too much in the MLB to be your go-to-guy?
He couldn't close it out. We need major bullpen revisions next year. Middle relievers, another closer, lefty relievers, and some better starting pitching. That's a start. Then there are some batting black holes in our lineup. Bosox have a better hitting lineup all-around. ...This sounds like pre-series speculation. When the Yankees are hot they're hot, but Posada and Clark (man if only Olerud stayed healthy. He's a classy guy too.) are just...you bite your nails when their ABs come.
But let's talk about Houston/St. Louis. Can the rocket, playing on the road for the first time this year (check me on that?) pull off a win?
