Major League Baseball - Red Sox WS champs XD

I think my new signature will help the Sox through the WS. :D

Beltran is a better move then Brown, Vasquez, A-Rod, and Sheffield ( thought Vlad might've been a better move then Beltran, Thanks Steiny ).

But an offense can only score so many runs, you still need some good, young pitchers. I think Vasquez might pan out for the Yanks, Loaiza wont, Contreras might have. But Pavano should be at the very top of their list regardless.

Certainly. Being born and raised in the Bronx I attended many Yankee games with some friends who are Yankee fans. We always ribbed each other (being that I'm a Mets fan in Yankee country) but they were never arrogant nor obnoxious like many other Yankee fans I know.

I remember going with them to games in the late 80's (when NYC was all Mets) and early 90's and the stadium was pretty much empty. They all went just to see Don Mattingly (who is pure class) and today they congratulated all the sox fans we know.

Its too bad more Yankee fans aren't like that.. I swear I know other Yankee fans who are fucking idiots and actually said, "Wait till next year and we'll show them who's daddy!". How moronic and my yankee fan friends were annoyed by them.



umm..go astros!!! There is something about the Cards that I hate besides the fact that Roger Cedeno has a chance at getting a damn world series ring.

Nah, Contreras didn't have the mentality needed to pitch on such a large stage. I do hope the Yanks get Pedro, but at the same time, it would be too weird.

Heh, you can't see it clearly, but I wrote "The Sox Are" on all of them.

The "who's your daddy chants" last night after the game ended should put a stop to that moronic phrase, thank God.

They don't need to replace Rivera, he's still awesome. He still strikes fear into 30 baseball teams, just not the BoSox. The problem was the lack of depth in thier bullpen. By the end of the year all the good pitchers were overworked and pitching as poorly as the bad ones. It's extremely noticable with Gordon and Quantrill, less so with Rivera, but it made him human.

Out of all the moves Dave mentioned, I don't think Vazquez can be lumped in with the Sheffield, Giambi, etc signings. Getting him was a really good move, it just didn't work out. There was no way to know it wouldn't. The fact is he's a young fireballer with a great arm, that's why the Sox wanted him so badly (and i thank God we ended up with Schilling instead). If the Yankees get a real pitching coach for once he'll be fine. When you look at the Giambi, Brown, and a lot of the other guys they are over priced and over the hill. I don't think the Yankees could have put together a worse team with all that money.

If they sign Beltran to a long term deal it will be the same mistake. He's great now, but he's 28. 27-28 are a baseball players career years, it rarely gets any better after that and generally gets a lot worse. Ignoring the post season, Beltran's numbers aren't even all that spectacular considering it's 90% likely this is as good as it gets. 5 or more years from now the Yankees will be paying for a superstar player and getting one who is merely average too above average, wasting thier payroll just like Giambi is wasting it now. If they ever want to climb back to elite status they have to stop the foolish spending, but Steinbrenner won't let them. The Yankees will always be good, it's pretty damn hard not to be when you spend 2x more than everyone else, but the mystique is gone. They're just another team now and that's what they play like. I love it.

Red Sox are a dynasty for the new millenium. Now if only the Celts and Bruins would step up.

A team is only as good as its pitching. Shilling is what, 38? Martinez is likely gone in the off season. Besides all of that, if this team doesn't win four more games, they are losers, just like the Yankees and the Devil Rays.

And the Sox didnt just win one - they shattered the Yankees. I mean, what other blemishes did the team have? Every team has blemishes, except the Yankees, that is. When they lost the World Series in past years, it took some heroic effort from Mazeroski or Josh Beckett or Curt Schilling or something. Until now. The Yankees have The Choke.

Are you kidding me? The Patriots are a dynasty. The Yanks of the late 90s were a dynasty. The Red Sox are not a dynasty. They were 90 years ago, but not now. They may very well be one in a few years, but not yet.

I love how you call 80% of Yankee fans clueless and then proceed to suggest something grotesquely idiotic. Steinbrenner needs to get rid of players like Sheff and Arod? Give me a break. Sheffield had a MVP year and produced through the stretch run and playoffs with a severely shredded shoulder that will more than likely require surgery in the offseason. Arod only gave up his chance to be the best shortstop ever to move over to play third and win a championship. He was also a very good third baseman for someone in his first year of being converted from another position. Brown has a bad back and Giambi had a potentially life-threatening parasite, yet you somehow think it was their egos that were the problem? Hilarious. After all, the Yanks only made it to Game 7 of the ALCS this year! Gut and revamp the whole team! They're all garbage! :rolleyes:

The Yankees are going to get Beltran anyway. He has already played himself out of the budgets of every other MLB team.

I hate the Yankees, but the constant whining of Boston fans over the years isn't all that endearing either (just like Cubs fans here in Chicago). Yankees fans have little perspective, because their team rarely loses. Red Sox fans have way too much Yankee penis envy. And the media has such an east coast bias that I can never stop hearing about either of them.

Besides, this ALCS series featured some of the sloppiest playoff baseball I have ever seen. Congrats to the Red Sox, but it's all for nothing if you don't win the World Series.

Its nice to see some people in here pulling for the Astros besides Tracer and I (I think the only houstonians on the board), its been a strange season for Houston to say the least, and in the postseason it feels like we've been the underdog this whole time. I have nothing against the Cardinals, they're a hardworking honest team just like the Astros, good luck to them in the world series if the take the NLCS.

I really hope Beltran doesn't bolt for the Yankees, but I have a hard time seeing anyone moving out there after what happened in the ALCS, perhaps it doesn't have a bearing when we're talking huge sums of cash here, but all the same...
