The official list of Asian movies *you must see*

animegirl, please watch Tampopo. I'd like to hear your impressions. I watched it again today and it remains one of my all time favorite movies. Absolutely wacky and touching.

I got another two Juzo Itami movies the other day (Minbo and Supermarket Woman). Of the five I've now seen, Tampopo is still my favorite. But Supermarket Woman was awesome! If you get a chance to pick up a copy online, watch Tampopo followed by Supermarket woman. That's great stuff. All of them were really good (meaning also the two Taxing Woman movies and Minbo). Lots of Yakuza stuff in the Taxing Woman movies and Minbo.

WTF, that was 15% off... no wonder they went out of business. That's $19.99 or LESS at most stores. For $22 you could get it on HD-DVD for christ's sake.

Yeah sorry, I ended up watching Lady Vengeance instead. I will watch it this week I swear!

the DVDs at Tower Records are now 20% off so I bought: Fulltime Killer and Memories of Murder

Fulltime Killer: I fell asleep halfway through the movie. The acting is atrocious.

Memories of Murder: One of the best serial killer/crime drama films I've ever seen. The cast was great, the score was haunting, and the scenes were beautifully shot. It's a disturbing film based on a true story of a serial killer who went on a rampage in the rural parts of South Korea in the mid-80's. The whole atmosphere was well captured and you really see how the citizens behaved in those times.

The director kicks ass, and I cannot wait to see his next film, The Host, which is already considered a classic.

Anyone see this Korean flick called Old Boy? That movie was really fucked up

Watch Lady Vengeance next, it's by the same director. I thought it was just as good.

Anybody seen this 5 part Korean TV series called Coma? My sister picked it up on DVD more or less by accident, and I was just wondering if anybody's got thoughts on it? I found a review of it at DVD Times, but that's about it. Started watching the first episode and it kinda freaked me out. But then again, I'm pretty :chick:
