Metroid coming to the big screen?

My stand on this is the same as every videogame-based movie. It could work if it's done by someone who is a fan of the games. Sadly, most videogame-based films are produced by imbeciles that don't care about the property and shouldn't be making movies in the first place. It's hard to determine at this point whether Woo cares about Metroid or is he just cashing in on the recent success of Prime and the two GBA games.

I'm just slightly grateful that it's John Woo and not mother-fucking Paul W.S. Anderson (now there's a hack) that got the rights.

I don't think that is fanart, it is an early design sketch for prime from Retro.

Look at the rest of the site. Unless whoever did that piece was the guy who did the early concepts for Retro, as well as stuff for Konami, Namco, Enix, etc. it's fanart.

I thought seeing Scorpion and Johnny Cage fight in that hell stage was the greatest fight ever made. And then when Scorpion goes for his Fatality? Forget about it. And then Cage does his damn Friendship? I was marking out like the 13 year old I was.

Actually, IMHO... of the video game movies I HAVE seen, the two Anderson did were the only ones that weren't steaming piles of dogshit. Note that the only ones I could conceivably say are better are the Tomb Raider ones, but I cannot judge those as I haven't seen them. The others I haven't seen have been obvious pieces of shit.

That said, I'd be very interested to see Woo's take on Metroid.

Um, the Samus at the end of MP looks like your regular 18yr old girl. Nothing special at all but hardly "trannie".
