Getting to my main point, please let me know what the last GOOD movie Woo had done was. Seriously, because I'd love to know. He's riding on the fact that he made Hard Boiled, and the fact that he's known for having his characters use two guns, an idea that so many people have now done far better.
I'd really love to see them take a chance with this movie, give it to somebody you wouldn't be expecting. David Fincher would be good, give it a dirty (not porno, but gritty) sort of feel like Fight Club and whatnot. Or give it to Quint and see what he does with it. If he does it, hell, have Uma be Samus. *heh* I could see her in the part.
Whomever they pick to play Samus, I'd personally love to see an actress who is small and frail - a contrast to the big, hulking power suit.
And out of all of the video game movies that have been done, or are in the planning, it is shocking that we still have no Metal Gear Solid movie. I mean, that would be a no brainer in my opinion.

If they're gonna cast an already established actress, if would have to be Natasha Henstridge, she's the only person I could think of that would really fit the part. She's got the quiet, strong personality and she looks the part. No other stars should even be considered over her.
Hilary Duff.

=D
Face Off was supposed to be fun? Wish I had known that, because I sure didn't have fun watching it.
They're going to make Samus "sexy," which means that they're going to completely screw her up. Not that she has to be ugly or something, but the entire point of her wasn't that she was some hot chick in a spacesuit, but the fact that she was a kickass bounty hunter who happened to be female.
Some people are saying that the movie should be like the original game - you aren't shown that she's a female until the very end. Fans will of course know, but for everybody else, it'll be an interesting surprise.
Also, the movie is supposed to be about her origins, but I'd rather see an Alien 2 sort of set-up. Have Samus be in a sort of mental funk over the ordeals that she's been through, and have a situation come up where she is forced to return to the planet and face the Metroid. Sure, have the movie be about cool action, but also be about her mental turmoil and the after effects of what she's seen and done.
Yeah, I'm going to agree with shidoshi here. John Woo's good movies: The Killer, Hard Boiled and A Better Tomorrow. His American movies have been terrible. Face Off was the stupidest movie ever. And stop casting Nick Cage and John Travolta in stuff, Mr. Woo. They make your shitty movies worse. Low budget + Hong Kong + Chow Yun Fat = Good John Woo film; Big budget + Someplace other than Hong Kong + no Chow Yun Fat = Bad John Woo movie.
Take this one step further and go ahead and cast Sigourney Weaver. There's a cool surprise yor ya at the end!Quote:

The first time I see a CG Metroid I'm going to crap my pants.
