I dont think Kill Bill is as good as Pulp Fiction, but it's on the same tier. When you combine the two, you get a brilliant example of post-modern filmmaking and something that's a total joy to watch. Just like Pulp Fiction. But they are really completely different films.
The only thing I think is that the impact of Kill Bill will be diluted over the years thanks to splitting it up, unless a combined version becomes the primary way the movie is watched a decade from now.
I can see why many of you thought vol2 was better then vol1. It was more story driven and all. But for me, I like watching movies that I find fun and badass and for me, vol1 was just that, fun and badass. The movie will deffinately be a ton better once (if) they release them out together.
Neat stuff learned from interviews-
-Tarentino was originally gonna play Pai Mei himself. It was reported like a year ago on AICN. I thought it was a joke, but reading recent stuff he said he seriously was gonna do it until he got to busy with directing and Gordon Liu was perfect for it anyways.
-He'd like to make a chapter about Vernita's girl getting revenge. The Bride would be the bad guy, and he's thought about shooting parts of it while the cast is around.
-There's talk about an animated prequel, that would follow Bill's 3 father figures: the latino pimp, Hanzo Hattori, and of course, Pai Mei.
-Some people have mentioned Yuki's Revenge chapter. That was the chapter that was first cut. It would've been live action or anime. It was the film's big shootout scene. Basically involved Go Go's even crazier twin sister Yuki trying to get revenge.
-When Bill walks down from the Pei Mei steps, he's bruised. There was a fight scene between him and some guy played by Micheal Jai White. You can see it in the trailer, but it was cut and will be put back in a later dvd.
Speaking of those steps...they didnt' seem all that long, did they? Bill makes a big deal out of them, and when the Bride is walking up them, you'd think there'd be a long visual gag about how long they are.....but it never really happens.

Well, We learn much more about Elle in subsequent scenes, and she is indeed one treacherous bitch. I dont think that she respected Budd's fall from grace, as becoming almost trailer trash, and was mad at him because of him taking her chance to face Bride, as I explained earlier.
Besides, Elle had her chance at Bea. She was going to kill her while she was still in the coma. If Bill hadn't stopped her, she would have won a coward's victory. So why be mad that someone else actually took her on face-to-face and won? :chick:
Budd's skill may have gone stagnant over the 4 years, but his instinct is still sharp as ever. He was the only one that knew Bea was near, prepared for it and beat her through savvy and planning. Which is even more baffling that he didn't just kill her straight away. It's what Bill would've wanted.
I thought Mamba and Copperhead's fight was better, but I loved when Elle tried (twice) to pull the sword from the scabbard, only to stop short because of the limited space in the trailer.
bloodyarts: You just kill them? He did try to kill her. He didn't use his gun, he had a more sinister plan. Budd doesn't rely on unprecidented sword skill to kill his target. He has uncanny instincts. That's the point they were making.
The point was Elle Driver was a bitch. She killed for no reason. She killed Budd because he stole from her the chance for her to kill The Bride, which she said herself. Don't make up character logic. Sometimes characters aren't logical. Elle killed Pai Mei because she didn't respect him.
Your points about Budd not killing her right away are silly. You seem to have missed the point of everyone's bizarre and twisted relationships.
There was a sense of 'honour' to the whole movie.
The first movie introduced the characters and flavour of the relationships well. I didn't see much fluff. The 88's fight scene showcased Kido's talents extremely well, and they followed that up with the sequel explaining how she got so good.Quote:

BTW, at my theatre they had a weird preview for a movie they said Tarantino was associated with (I think he's a producer trying to bring it to America). It looks a lot like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon but with a more fantasy oriented approach. These movies don't appeal to me because they're too cartoony off-the-wall but some people may be interested.

I don't think I missed anything as blatant as the nature of the characters' relationships, sun. I already mentioned Budd had great instincts. The Bride wasn't interested in coming up with a complex plan to torture, then kill Budd. She wanted to kill him, period. He knew that. I'm just surprised he didn't kill her straight away. It was cool what he did (and isn't that really the point of this whole movie? Nothing has to be logical or rational, just cool), but like I said, if you're going to kill someone who's intention is to kill you, you just do it. I don't find that silly in the least.Quote:

You really don't have to defend this movie from me. I'm not bashing it at all. I loved it and intend to see it for a third time with my wife. But there are questions you ask yourself when watching, and I aired them here, no harm, no foul.
Yeah, that movie was HERO. Many people have the HK DVD already. It's a little more enjoyable than CTHD, imo. I believe Despair can give you all the details you need.Quote:

Also, at my theater, they showed a preview for, and Heaven only knows why, a sequel to Anaconda. No J-Lo, Ice Cube or Stolz, though. Somehow, I'm strangely interested...
Even when I was in the theatre watching the part begin, I still thought that Tarantino was going to do the dubbed voice of Pai Mei. When he didn't I was disapointed for a second, and then while watching it realized that it would have been too rediculous probably. That would be a funny/nice dvd extra too though.Quote:

The point of the movie was that these characters were masters of being sadistic and hurting people. His method of ending her was to burry her alive. I wish they didn't kill Budd with the Mamba, but it goes to show you that money was his big weakness.
They have him billed as the voice. I'm guessing that they took this out, probably be on the DVD's somewhere.Quote:

The whole thing DEFINATLY should have been 1 movie. The dialog in vol 2 annoyed me. They spoke too slowly and delivered every line like captain Kirk. i thought about leaving till Pai mei showed up. It was so boring up to that point.
