Reality TV shows, the the bane of tv entertainment?

It is one thing when you see a concept once on tv, atleast there is a possibility that you can learn from it. But when you see the fouth and fifth iterations of shows like Survivor and Big Brother, you know there is something wrong with the tv world.

Big Brother being my biggest pet peeve. If you are watching the 4th or fifth series of it, you need to put the damned tv off and go out of the freaking house and find some friends instead of using crap like Big Brother to make artificial friends for you.

When one of these shows hits the fourth series, there is absolutely nothing that you can gain from it, and yet all good creative tv series seem to be failing while these thrive?

its because we all suck, every last one of us.

I remember when they starting booming after Survivor. That's one of the only reality TV shows I watched, along with Boot Camp (a few eps). I don't mind the Real World, though. That's the original Reality TV show, and I've been watching that since it for came out back in 92'.

I figured that people would have burned out of them at this point.

personally, big brother is the only one I like, as its fun to watch a bunch of kids act like cocks. I don't see them as friends or anything that perverse, infact, i usually hate the majority of the contestants, but its fun to watch these people cope with little dramas and each other as apposed to the extreme shit like survivor, or the lame shit like all of the emdless number of wedding themed ones.

I think my Dad said it best, "why would anyone want to watch a Reality tv show? People watch Tv becuase real life sucks or is borring. Why the hell would you want to go on to watch what you are trying to relax and get away from? The Real world? More like The Real World sucks."

The Real World is the only "reality" show I've ever remotely enjoyed. Now, they're all just glorified game shows, giving us a mix of the game show boom (and bust) of the late 90s and the "reality" TV boom of the past few years.

I found it annoying as it was one of the first flag ship shows MTV used to stop playing music videos.

There was many a summer I cussed it for being on when I wanted to see some music videos. That, and I hated how they always put the most fucked up stupid 20+ year olds on that show.

That's definitely a valid complaint about them. What amazes me is that they've poked fun at their lack of music video play, and then do nothing to rectify the main complaint that people have about the network.

MTV2 it's "where the music's at". As soon as MTV2 is overrun with crap (not that the music they play isn't crap), they'll unveil MTV3, and so on. Making money all the way.

what really amazes me is they are starting to clog up M2, the channle they made to fix that problem, with shows.

Are there really that few people now days that really enjoy music that they have to show tv shows to keep ratings up?
