Anyone ever wonder what life would be like in that Palestinian state, if we were to make the absurd critical leap of believing that all this would've actually have ended if they accepted what Ehud Barak offered them a couple of years back?
Democratic? When would Arafat be elected to his position? Would the country advance to the high technological and lifestyle standards of the rest of the Arab world? How much better would the Palestinians be treated by their leaders than the Iraqis are treated by Iraqi leaders? They might be able to do better than Saddam, I guess, worth something.
This is not now, and never was, about race, and you know that.Quote:

I personally think that bulldozing dozens of houses in large numbers , so that jewish settlers can build houses in their places is racist.
This is true. Back in 1975, a resolution from the UN, 3379 I think's the number, basically equated Zionism with racism. The U.N.'s never directly criticized Arafat for supporting terrorism or specifically suicide bombing.Quote:

The U.N. has proved in the past to be an anti Jewish union. Meetings have become so bad that Israeli and US diplomats have walked out. I think I'll base my opinion on that of a Humanitarian organization and a well established magazine, rather than Palestinian ambassadors or a corrupt worldwide alliance.
I don't see what the race basis is for that - Israel's in a war with Palestine, and settlements, among other things act as outposts against the suicide bombers that the Palestinian 'government' is using as weaponry.Quote:

Israel's racist, and the Palestinian terrorists are simply freedom fighters?
how exactly do you define Zionism?
The settlements are not being used as outposts. Which state would be stupid enough to put their own citizens in warzones?Im sorry , but the settlers just dont belong there.Quote:

Zionism's a movement to create a place where we can protect ourselves from the world's anti-semitism.
The Palestinians had land in 1948. They were offered a compromise by Barak two years ago. They didn't accept it.
Israeli soldiers have done everything, EVERYTHING, they can to minimize civilian casualties - going house to house, entering houses, in order to root out the terrorists - which puts the soldiers themselves at incredible physical risk. The need to defend the Israeli state has always been tempered by the morality and Democracy at the heart of Judaism and at the heart of Israel, and that particularly goes for how Israel's conducted herself over the past few months.
Israel's citizens are soldiers. Optimally, no, the settlements wouldn't be there (who's racist now, though, what about the Israeli-Arab 'settlements' in Israel proper?) Optimally Palestinian terrorists wouldn't be terrorists. Optimally they wouldn't camoflauge themselves behind their women and their children. Optimally (for Palestine at least) they would've accepted Barak's offer two years ago, instead of causing another cascade of deaths and then turning back and asking for the same terms once offered to them.Quote:
