E3 2k4

Ok, as a gamer E3 is always fun. There's never been a E3 where there hasn't been at least one suprise that's gotten me excited, and some even reveal so many that as a gamer, you just wonder how you're going to afford everything.

With that said, I've been wondering what everyone thinks about this year's upcoming E3 expo? What do you think lies around the corner, and do you think that there will be any large announcements?

I personally feel that the days of E3 rocking my socks are over. I remember back in 96 when I saw the N64 coverage, and I was just blown away. It looked so much better than anything I had seen at the time. And with seeing the new screens of that next-gen game, I've came to the conclusion that we're going to be less impressed with the next consoles. The tech gap just isn't going to be as big.

And that's usually what wows me about E3, is hearing and seeing some of the first coverage of the next generation of consoles. And I really doubt that will happen this year, but even if it did it's just not going to have the same impact on me.

So what does everyone think about the upcoming event? And what do you think we be revealed? In a few weeks, we can see how right or wrong we were, and can start filling the thread with actual reports and news.

Until then though, I thought it would be fun to speculate. :chick:

Yeah, my interest in the show has gone down in the last few years. After the beautiful graphics wore off, I wasn't left with much.

This year, I think:

MS will show some tech demos done with PCs to show what the Xbox2 will be like (just as they did a few years ago with the first one)
Quake 4 will come out of nowhere (yes, it's been in development) to impress a lot of people
People will be looking forward to Mario 128
HL2 will have another strong showing, only to be delayed again because of some ridiculous reason that everyone will eat up just like last year

The only E3 that I can remember flooring me was, I believe, 2000 when Sega was making its last ditch effort at a great showing for the Dreamcast. I was extremely impressed that year.

As far as this year, there should be playable Halo 2, Doom III, and True Fantasy Live Online...that's worth the price of admission for me.

I'm expecting several huge announcements from Nintendo, since this seems like the last year the Gamecube will be taken seriously. Hopefully they have more in the works than endless sequels and games starring Mario, but I'm not holding my breath.

Sega supposedly has half a dozen or more projects they're working on that no one knows about, so it seems there'll be some surprises there.

And of course there's the DS and PSP which should both be very interesting to see.

I have a feeling there'll be quite a few surprises this year.

Nintendo DS, Halo 2, Metroid Prime 2, Paper Mario 2.

I'm hoping for a new Zelda adventure for the GBA and a re-make of Metroid 2 for the GBA.

Yeah, theres actually a new rumor that there will be around thirty DS titles shown at E3. That'll be interesting if it actually happens.

Playable Halo 2 is awesome. But it'll just make the wait worse.

SEGA is up to something. Things have been really silent lately. So hopefully there will be several announcements from SEGA's camp.

They've already said that a GBA Zelda is in the works. By the guys who made the Oracle game, so let's hope that this is shown as well. I think the Oracle games are the best in the series.

I don't know what to think about Nintendo. I'm sure they have something big involving the Cube, I'd hate to think that their showing would focus on the DS, and I'd like to think that it'll be something beyond sequels and such.

Even so, it'll be cool if Windwaker 2 and Metroid Prime 2 made a appearance.

And I really hope that Bob is right, and Quake 4 shows up.

This is going to best E3 in a very long time. Nuff said.

If it's done right, it has a chance to take over UT2k4's place as the ultimate multiplayer game.

It's being developed by Raven and all, and it's supposedly going to be slower-paced (with vehicles and the like). It just doesn't sound like a Quake game, which sucks, as far as I'm concerned.

Not that it won't be a great single-player game.

maybe there will be some info on animal crossing 2? Beyond that i hope to see some actual shots of the ds games,i want to hear some announcements from game des!gners studio of more games in the cc universe(hey it sold well, why not) i want to hear lots about the swg spaceships expansion and revamped jedi system.

Um that is a GOOD thing. ID sucks as far multiplayer gaming is concerned. It is all about knowing the locations of the damned quad damage and nail gun/ rocket launcher locations.
