Actually, I've been strongly considering buying a CPS3 board, and I will not until it's emulated. I've heard that the hardware itself is quite flakey, though nobody ever told me exactly why or how, just I've heard that much. I don't want to buy hardware that's known to die easily. The reason I own no CPS2 games currently is because there's no simple way to prevent them from ever suiciding. I want a 3rd Strike cab more than anything, but in the event that CPS3 is ever emulated, at least my investment won't have totally gone to waste.

Speaking of CPS2 suicides and driving this thread further off topic, besides sending your boards to that one guy who can fix them, have any other ways of preventing this popped up, that anyone knows? I know, I know, change batteries while it's on and don't worry about it... but nobody can be vigilant about that forever, heh.

Do you want to know a secret? I don't think CP-S III emulation will happen. Ever. Or for the next 10 years, who cares. The hardware is still a mystery. Ask Razoola or any dev. I can see even more possibilities for the Data East 32-bit system.

There are no more options to prevent the CP-S II suicide. PCBs were made for an eventual and professional use only. As sad as this.

Most of everything is on dreamcast so I wish someone would get a proper emu that's good enough for 2D, but War-Zard is about the biggest reason why just about anybody would try to run on PC. All the fault lies with capcom for this.

It took someone with enough balls to figure out how to bring them back from the dead, otherwise you'd have to send them to capcom and have it done by a technician.

Strider is a great series. I always thought it was a little bit cooler than it was great, but that's ok because style and atmosphere are important too and it put Strider over the hump for me. Hiryuu is dead cool. I remember playing the Genesis version of Strider when it first came out (I had not played the arcade version). I thought it was great but fairly easy. My friend let me borrow it and I beat it on the first weekend. It seems harder now. :p

I still need to buy Strider 2. I didn't have a PS1 when it came out. It seems fun and it's usually pretty cheap. I just have not gotten aound to it. :\

I would love to see Capcom make Strider 3. It would be really cool if it was completely high res 2D with brilliant animations. But I would not mind 2.5D or even 3D. S'all good.

Let me repeat it: PCBs are intended to be used professional and eventually as money maker machines, not for home use or even for collection purposes. CP-S II suicide is the best proof of this. Said that, everybody is free to buy or collect whatever they want. No need for roughness or primary school riff-raff words. Not again.

If there were legitimate home ports for some games instead being restricted to arcades, this wouldn't be an issue but as long as there is some kind of imperfection in the home versions, then this is the route to take.

We can't let all the good shit fade into obscurity.

Which one? Buying old PCBs in the second hand market or emulation? None of them implies profit for the game company at all.
