How Important is your videogame Collection to you?

Many of us here have quite the collection of games, that have been amassed over many years. I don't know how much my collection is worth or even how many games I have but I have a number of sealed rare gems, and many PC Engine, and DC games, that are special to me. With that said if I was forced to sell them due to financial trouble, or had to thin down my collection, as hard as it would be I would. I'd keep my sealed Suikoden 2, Valkrie Profile, Rez, and some SNES stuff. The rest could be replaced and bought again. So how easily would it be for you to sell your collection if you needed the money?

I can't really get money for any of my stuff so selling it wouldn't help. I mosty have PC games which usually arn't worth more then a few dollars used 6 months after they're out.

I'd have to go with selling more common titles, even though they would'nt garner much cash. I'd have to be pretty desperate to part with titles like Panzer Dragoon Saga, Dragon Force or Shining Force III. My Saturn collection would defineatly be the last thing sold for sure.

I don't have anything really rare or anything, so I doubt I would sell it. It would all depend on the strength of "need" though.

Actually, I tend to get rid of a lot of my games that I don't care much for to make for new ones. I doubt I'll be buying as many games anymore though. No point in buying mediocre stuff.

My Saturn collection = pretty damn important, as its a collection of over 200 games including PDS, Radiant Silvergun, Hyper Duel, Shinrei Jusatsushi Taroumaru, Stellar Assault, Final Fight Revenge, etc. And all are as complete as they can possibly be. :)



The other systems though? Not so much.

The other systems though... not so much. Got Alien Soldier on the Mega Drive and Battle Sphere for my Jaguar... but thats about the only rare stuff on the other consoles I have (unless you count all the Square SNES games... which I wouldnt).



Now, if I could just find Crows: The Battle Action for Sega Saturn....

I came to the realization that I don't like being defined by my possessions, or feeling "weighted down" by them. Yet at the same time I like having a large, nicely maintained game collection. It's an unresolved paradox.

I never really considered selling my games. Hopefully I'll be lucky enough that it'll never come to that. Most of my apocalyptic game-loss scenarios involve natural disasters or fire.

I have the need to keep alot of my stuff. I guess anything I enjoyed I want to keep for a reason I can't really explain. It's not that I will play them again, or that they would be hard to find, just knowing that I do own them is something. But if something is mediocre or not so great, I will get rid of it in a second to get something better.
